This was my first Road Scholar trip. I have enviously watched my mother and her sister attend numerous trips, including a river cruise in Russia last summer. As am I an Art & Music librarian, the idea of spending 5 days getting to know the Art Institute was a wonderful draw. Lecturers were knowledgeable, personable and good at getting our group engaged in discussion. Group leader Lucas did a great job, and I can't imagine a better place to stay than the Palmer House, which even has a good-sized pool. The optional field trip to hear Beethoven's Missa Solemnis with the CSO and Haitink was exceptional- what an ethereal, elegant take on this huge and incredibly moving piece!. The excellent handouts provided travelers with a nice orientation to the many great things to do and places to explore within walking distance. Palmer House cuisine was great, too! All in all, a fabulous trip.

Three of us came from Los Angeles. We thoroughly enjoyed the week at the Chicago Art Institute. Two of us have been docents at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and found the lectures stimulating and fun. I personally would like to return for the Impressionist program. A great experience!
