Easy
For people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
Moderate
These programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
Active
For people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately Challenging
For hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
Challenging
Get ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

This was my first Road Scholar trip. I have enviously watched my mother and her sister attend numerous trips, including a river cruise in Russia last summer. As am I an Art & Music librarian, the idea of spending 5 days getting to know the Art Institute was a wonderful draw. Lecturers were knowledgeable, personable and good at getting our group engaged in discussion. Group leader Lucas did a great job, and I can't imagine a better place to stay than the Palmer House, which even has a good-sized pool. The optional field trip to hear Beethoven's Missa Solemnis with the CSO and Haitink was exceptional- what an ethereal, elegant take on this huge and incredibly moving piece!. The excellent handouts provided travelers with a nice orientation to the many great things to do and places to explore within walking distance. Palmer House cuisine was great, too! All in all, a fabulous trip.

Three of us came from Los Angeles. We thoroughly enjoyed the week at the Chicago Art Institute. Two of us have been docents at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and found the lectures stimulating and fun. I personally would like to return for the Impressionist program. A great experience! Leader Lucas is terrific in every way--- knowledgeable, superbly organized, anticipatory, selective in choice of lecturers, flexible, personable, accessible, efficient, thoughtful. The Art Institute has an awesome collection. The Chicago within walking distance is replete with culture. The Palmer House Hilton is at the very top of Road Scholar alternatives. Our fellow learners were well informed, well prepared, and well disciplined. Great program.

I have only joined a couple of other Road Scholar programs, but for me this one was a must. The Art Institute of Chicago is a great museum, Chicago is a great city, and the Palmer House is a great hotel. It is a win-win-win program.

This Road Scholar program to the Chicago Art Institute was a check to my "Bucket List". Always wanted to see Seurat's "Grand-Jatte". Our guide and organizer, Lucas, was the best. Especially enjoyed the Impressionists, the Modern Wing with Picassos', Chagall's window, Pollack and more. The tour of "Works on Paper" and talk was especially interesting. The Palmer House was a lovely place to stay, food was very good. So glad we were able to enjoy the Chicago Symphony Orchestra with Muti. Superb tour, well done!

This program at the Art Institute located in the heart of dynamic Chicago within walking distance of numerous other Museums, Parks, Shopping to say nothing of the breathtaking Architecture. For those of us of you who love the beauty of art, I can't think of more invigorating way to spend a few days in the company of others with like appreciation. To top it off Accommodation is only 5 minutes away at the World famous Palmer House Hilton Hotel. I think you will also appreciate the meals there. Enjoy, Mario A. Rossi, Architect

A marvelous trip that included a side trip away from the museum to a Chicago neighborhood. I would repet this again and again because you can never get the whole story of this wonderful museum and the wonderful city of Chicago.
