Moderate
These programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
Active
For people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately Challenging
For hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
Challenging
Get ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

This was my first Road Scholar trip and I did not know what to expect, but I had a great time. This part of New Brunswick is gorgeous, and we saw much of it on our daily walks. Kathy and Rudy were generous and friendly hosts, served wonderful meals and Nancy was a great guide and very thoughtful in managing the varying physical abilities in our group. I normally walk a couple of miles a day and I was fine on the hikes, one of which was almost 8 miles long. I did wish I had brought hiking boots when the weather got wet. Be prepared for some steep ups and downs on the trail. I was glad I had trekking poles to handle the slippery rocks on some of the beaches. We saw eagles, a seal and I almost tripped over a porcupine. This coastline has a bleak and haunted quality, and the shipping history was fascinating. When I asked some of the Road Scholar vets what they thought of this trip, they gave the program a 10 and said they had rarely had such good food at a RS program. In her confirmation e-mail, Kathy wisely recommended that people who were flying to N.B. make sure that they had been booked into St. John, N.B. and not St. John's Newfoundland. I discovered that even though RS had arranged my flights, I had been booked into the wrong province! It's an easy mistake to make, so double-check your reservations.

Kathy and Rudy were excellent hosts! They were enthusiastic, knowledgeable, helpful, customer focused and the love of their home and area poured forth from all their beings. They are very involved in the program and obviously work very hard to ensure the program is a success.
The dining staff was excellent: Mark, Sharon and Tracy and the chef who came out several times to ask us about the meal.
Nancy Sears was awesome! She was the best naturalist I ever had on a hiking trip. She has incredible knowledge and love for the area. John Kelly and Rudy were excellent guides. I loved the hike to the Hearst Lodge. Rudy was a great leader during this hike. I wish that there was an option to extent the tour to allow us to stay at the lodge overnight and allow for more hiking in the area.
Our room was nice especially the fireplace but the tub is too high, especially for elderly. Also, our room was never vacuumed and despite trying not to bring in dirt, we were hiking on the beach and woods so it was impossible not to. Our rooms should have been vacuumed at least once.
We should have had more strenuous hikes or this trip should be rated a level 4.
I was disappointed the trip didn't visit the Hopewell Rocks. I had to extend my trip to visit Hopewell Rocks on my own. I think this is one of the best sites to see the tide change so I feel we should have taken a day to drive there. If this is not possible, then I feel the trip should have an extension option to see the Hopewell Rocks after the trip.
I think we should have visited the museum at night so we would have more time to hike and sightsee during the daylight.
I loved having raw vegetables on our hike. I would have liked eggs for breakfast and an option at dinner. I would have liked servings of fruit as an option instead of cookies for a snack/desert.
