Minneapolis, Minnesota was a great disappointment to me. Apart from the Russian Museum and the Guthrie Theater, the city was an ugly cluster of office buildings and barren streets.

I attended the 7/2-7/9/2015 program and have been on 30+ programs. The program content was excellent. The lectures were packed with knowledge that put all into place on the field trips. Museums were great and the real unexpected treasure was The Russian Museum Of Art with the porcelain Tzar eggs and paintings that told of the politics of recent eras. Nicolette Mall, the main pedestrian street from the Hyatt Regency to the river (12 blocks) had lots of restaurants and shopping and park activity. All docents were knowledgeable, except for the Weismann Art which could have been walked through on our own. Highlight of trip was the Guthrie Theater with its cantilevered protuberance coming off the second floor. Amazing architectural feat! We arrived 3 days earlier and took a boat ride through the locks and wandered through the immediate area of the hotel and over to the Walker Art Institute (don't miss) and the main library and some of the skyline. The great American Get Together programs have far too many participants (ours had 60+), but on another one, reported by one of our group, they divided the 120+ group into smaller ones of 30+ participants with each having its own bus. This allowed for lectures as a large group, but better logistics with restaurants, entering and exiting the huge bus, maneuvering around neighborhoods, restroom stops, counting of participants, etc., etc. The trip leader did a great job given the large group. Minneapolis is a great city that I would highly recommend visiting!

this trip to Minnesota was an all inclusive way to see part of the US that I had not been to before. well run 7 days of touring etc. started early ( 7 am-caught bus at 8 30 AM) and headed out for the day. returned at dinner time. a very informative day and a LONG one. !

I had not been to that part of USA before and was a great way to see a lot of it. they have a big theater district building up there also. might rival NYC one of these days. ( during summer months only tho.) they have BAD winters espically for southern gals !!
good hotel, mostly good food, all in all a great very active program. I would classify this a notch over moderate activity. our hosts from the phoenix RS office were outstanding and handled the 75 + enrollees with ease. !

The Minneapolis trip was marvelous. Although it was a large Road Scholar gathering, we split into three groups, each with its own separate knowledgeable -- and ultra friendly -- guide. We learned a great deal about Minneapolis and its twin, St. Paul, and had great fun doing so. I heartily recommend this trip.

When I did my evaluation, I forgot to add that having the representatives from the Portland and Boston offices along was great, too, and the coordination of the shuttles from and to the airport was truly a wonderful bonus.

This program was so well planned and executed. This is the first time I received a spiral ringed information packet prior to the program. Loved it!!!!

If you are a traveler interested in culture and the arts and haven't been to Minneapolis, you really do need to consider this program, or something similar! When hearing I was planning to go to this program, friends asked me "What's in Minneapolis?" My answer was "That's what I'm going to find out." Now that I've been there, my answer will be: WOW - a whole lot of WOW!
