This was my first Road Scholar adventure and I am ready for more. This week was chock full of history, stories, and sites by such entertaining and knowledgeable speakers and guides. The other participants were friendly, approachable and interesting. It's my best retirement gift to me.

Loved the sights, sounds and smells of San Antonio and the wonderful River Walk. But for me, a midwesterner transplanted to the arid Southwest of Suhuaros and prickley pear cacti, I particularly enjoyed the frolicing squirrels of San Antonio. Didn't realize how much I missed them and the trees they inhabit till I saw them in the tiny park next to the Alamo and in the garden of the Governor's House. They were an unexpected highlight of this educational trip, which I thoroughly enjoyed.

This was my 2nd Road Scholar experience and I would highly recommend your programs to others. I throughly enjoyed San Antonio. Everyone involved in providing our tours, lectures and accomdations did an outstanding job. I learned sooo much. It was a treat to have the men from the home office - Boston - Hope you are all well and getting dug out!! I'm looking forward to doing another Road Scholar trip soon. I'm seriously considering doing one of your intergenerational programs. Kind Regards 'till then

I came because of interest in San Antonio, and I wanted to check out Road Scholar; especially traveling singly. I was truly impressed. I felt I learned a lot and enjoyed doing so. The staff and speakers were outstanding and very accommodating; and best, was the other participants, who were extremely interesting, friendly, and fun people.

Frankly, I did not give much of a "yee-haw" about Texas before this trip. San Antonio seemed like a nice, warm destination away from our Central NY winter and it seemed a good value with air included. However, WOW! What a great time and such history! Previously I not heard much about San Antonio besides the Spurs...but...what a great city and program! Accomodations, meals, presenters, field trips, fellow participants, group leaders (wonderful) and even Howie (the boss) were all above expectations. I now have information about and feel an ongoing connection to San Antonio as well as an appreciation for its place in our shared (US) history. And then there's the Alamo and four other historic missions...a moving experience. Real Tex-Mex food, and many other tasty options. So, to sum up: YEE HAW!

San Antonio was a revelation especially the water conservation and urban ecosystem revelation. The group leaders were organized and moved several large groups like clockwork. At no time did the group seem too big. The speakers that one could get for a large group were excellent including the director for Mission Control, the history professor and the storyteller.. The guides were outstanding- Bill Perryman (teacher of teachers and historic impersonator) is the best! He really made the places' histories come alive. Weather was great, opportunity for hikes and walks, and food pretty good. We were too full from lunch to go out on our 2nd free day so would have liked another opportunity to have top Tex Mex food. I would not be put off by the size of attendance of any future "great get-togethers" as management of this one was so good.

It was our first experience with Road Scholar. I found the program to be well organized ;the level of the presentations was quite high, especially the Texas historian and the story teller. The group leaders were very patient , helpful and accomodating with my mobility issues. It was good to have our hotel connected to the River Walk and the wonderful restaurants that our group leader recommended:Boudreaus and Paesanos. We met some very nice people and plan to do some house-swappingwith them.
We took this trip because of the opportunity to get out of NH in the winter and because airfare was included. We would definitely go on another especially if the airfare we were included again! This snow storm we are getting make us wish we were back in San Antonio right now.

This was a very nice opportunity to get away to a warm climate in early Feb. Thank you Road Scholar for paying our travel expenses, how lovely, and it made the other expenses possible for our brother, Michael, to cover. My 3 brothers and one sister , one sister-in-law, and myself found ourselves surrounded by extremely interesting and curious people. Thank you Howie, Matt, Karen, Mary Margaret, and Ginger. So many others contributed to our happiness. We are now home and have promised to search for another trip in the next year. We especially loved meeting Gene Kranz, what an amazing individual! As Lady Bird Johnson said, A little stress and adventure is good for you, if nothing else, just to prove you are alive. Many Thanks.

Well done! The staff did an heroic job of planning and execution. The Drury hotel was first rate and located right in the middle of the action. There was a very nice balance of large meals, group size meals and opportunity to eat on our own. Really great spots on the River Walk just steps from the hotel. The presentations were varied and well done. Learned an amazing amount about water and water conservation strategies. Field trips, both walking and by coach, were varied with options and with time on our own. We saw everything there was to see around San Antonio and learned a lot about Texas.

This is my 1st Roads Scholar trip, but I have made trips w/Elderhostel previously. I enjoyed the trip, the participants, and the staff. I did not enjoy the supposedly ranch visit, or the box lunch. I believe the hotel did a good job, but service fell off on the weekend. I thought that the group was too large, however it spite of that, I was able to intermingle w/a no. of folks. Overall it was a good trip, I enjoyed it very much.

Just completed the Great American Get -Together San Antonio. IIt was our first and we are studying the catalogues already for the next. Better than expected. Recommend taking a tour before making a quick judgment call. I would not consider us the studious type at all but all the education programs were well worth attendance and besides they are optional.

I thoroughly enjoyed the SanAntonio get-together. The leaders and volunteers were most helpful, even with minor problems. We had a good mix of lectures and field trips, with available options. The hotel was very comfortable and I enjoyed meeting so many interesting people. Even the weather was copacetic.
