Reviews, photos and videos for program: Hiking in the Wallowa Mountains: America's Little Switzerland

This was a great way to get into a pristine area, stay for several days, and not have to carry everything in. Horses carried the heavy stuff and you carried a day pack and perhaps personal items such as a camera. The lakes are beautiful and the hikes invigorating even for the oldsters! Camp and tents were set up and Bob did the cooking. We just enjoyed the experience of hiking and the great outdoors.

If you want to experience a beautiful, mountain wilderness area but are unable or reluctant to backpack, this is the trip for you. Join a small group of outdoor enthusiasts, guided by an expert in leading trips throughout the northwest, stay in a comfortable base camp, have your bedding and personal items carried for you to the base camp, enjoy delicious meals prepared for you, and take daily hikes though mountain forests and meadows to lakes and bare peaks. Wake up to the birds singing, brooks babbling, coffee brewing, and the sun warming nearby mountain ridges. Fall asleep in a comfortable tent under the stars with your head full of the beauty of the day and anticipation for what is to come tomorrow.

This hiking trip will challenge and inspire you with its alpine scenery! Having a packer carry in all the heavy equipment, set up base camp, and provide excellent meals, means you only need your day pack while on the trail to and from camp. Day hikes are led from the base camp to various scenic, high lakes and mountain peaks.

What a GREAT hike. Leader exceptional, scenery spectacular. If you are not a backpacker and want to see Eagle Cap Wilderness this is the way to go. Cooking is done for you, tents set up just "move in". Break in your boots, get your "hiking" legs on, get your gear in order and GO.

We had a wonderful adventure in the Wallowa Mts. The hiking was challenging, the lakes were beautiful and the views outstanding. All participant's were treated as individuals and yet we had a great group experience. The camp meals were excellent!

This is a vigorous hiking trip in little-known area of surpassing beauty. The packer support means you need only your day pack while on the trail. Bob Lion's camp cooking was astonishing and delicious!
