This program included a variety of learning experiences led by experts in their fields - from Pueblo culture to Art to SW cuisine. Santa Fe is a wonderful "city different!"

First Road Scholar trip and I enjoyed every minute. Thanks to Marsha and Dan for such insight into Native American History and Santa Fe. Most memorable was the ceremonial buffalo dance and the landscapes Hotel was wonderful within walking distance to downtown Santa Fe, food a little disappointing for this veggie lover but the hotel kickstart buffet helped. I would recommend this trip for anyone.

This trip was our best vacation ever. Our group leaders Elana and Christopher were tops in their knowledge of Sante Fe and Native American History. The Native American Buffalo dance, was so moving to me and my wife Donna. The Hotel accomodations were 5*****. They accomodated both mine and my wife's vegeterian diet. I think this trip was an extremely top value for the money. Please go you will not be disappointed. Charles/Donna From Hudson Valley New York.

Marsha and Dan were wonderful, welcoming, accommodating, knowledgeable group leaders. I was moved at the chance to see the ceremonial dance; pleased learn of the Indian culture; and learn from various speakers. The area is beautiful, the topography amazing, so many museums and shops with wonderful art, and the FOOD! I highly recommend this program. It is a fun, educational Get-Together in Santa Fe!

Great program, leaders Mark & Elizabeth were outstanding and made the Program even better. Good information on the history of Santa Fe and the Native Americans of the area. We highly recommend the Program. Hotel and its employees were very nice.

This was my first Road Scholar program and it was great. The speakers were well-informed and interesting plus they all had a sense of humor. Some of the buildings in Santa Fe date back centuries and scenery is lovely with a lot of sunshine.

This was a great program from start to finish with just the right amount of days. The scenery was colorful and amazing, and the group leaders wonderful! Even the bus driver on our field trips was so courteous and friendly to everyone. The lectures and field trips were educational and enjoyable, and the hotel location perfect.

Even though I had visited Santa Fe many times previously, I learned new things about the area. For example, our field trip to Echo Amphitheatre was a surprise and thrilling.

The very best trip I have had in a long time!!!!!!!!!!! I was most impressed with the program organization, lectures, and especially our group leaders Kay and Heidi. I can't imagine why anyone would complain about anything!!!!!!!!! We knew how many guests there would be on this trip and how far we needed to be able to walk before we signed up. I'm already starting to think about Albuquerque Sept 29 - Oct 5.

Mixed Bag. Good was weather, group leaders, some visits to Taos and Buffalo dance. Bad was some long walks difficult with 7k altitude, biased descriptions of Publeo vs Western history, mediocre hotel food, and too many guests (140)crowding buffets and meeting halls.

This was actually my fifth trip to Santa Fe and every day I was glad that I came again. Our hotel was very conveniently located and was full of outstanding Art. The hotel customer service was exceptional . Our guides Kay and Heidi were very knowledgeable and obviously in love with the area and it's history. They went above and beyond to share their passion with us . This trip was a great value. I really enjoyed traveling with such a large group because I knew every time I went into the dining area I knew I would get to know somebody new.

Immensly enjoyable and educational lectures by renowned speakers about art and cultures. Great field trips. Great food!

Compelling native speakers gave us glimpses into the current life-style and past history of Native Americans of northern New Mexico Pueblos. The field trips were well-planned and executed, and interacting with the attending Road Scholars was, as always, a highlight!

Santa Fe is an interesting small town to visit and with Road Scholar organizing, a good way to see Santa Fe and its surrounding area. Most of the lectures were interesting and educational. Hotel was comfortable, in walking distance of the center, food fair. Leaders were well versed/knowledgeable which made each day interesting as we visited historical sites. Would recommend this trip.

Can’t say enough great things about our first Road Scholar trip. So, in honor of David Letterman’s retirement here is our top 10 list of Ways We Were WOWed by Great American Get-together in Santa Fe 10. Hotel location, accommodations and dining. Great to meet and eat with people from all over. 9. Los Alamos History & Science Museums. There was a tangible sense of ghosts inhabiting the school and the overwhelming amount of info in the science museum alone could have consumed 2 full days! 8. Statehouse. Fiber art exhibit – amazing, Atrium sculpture and fountain –breathtaking. 7. Chimayo Weavers & Santuario. Where we made our shopping/purchasing quota for the entire trip. 6. Elena’s Pueblo Indian Talk, Art & Myth - Ramsom Lomatawama, Storyteller - Cisco Guevara -fantastic, Kurt Kemper - Geology & Geography, Anne Hillerman - her father’s legacy. Each brought great insights into the area’s history and culture and illuminated the spirit of place! 5. Taos Pueblo Site tour – Great guide, moving and beautiful place. 1000-year-old condominium! 4. Jerry Rightman lecture highlight of the whole trip for me followed immediately by Georgia O’Keeffe Museum in which there were surprisingly few flower paintings! 3. Watching the San Felipe Feast Day Festival Corn Dance. It actually rained later that day so I guess it worked!!! 2. Climbing up (and back down) all the ladders @ Bandelier National Monument Not surprising the life expectancy was only about 35! 1. Nature’s incredible beauty. Santa Fe, New Mexico is truly The Land of Enchantment! Each day was jam packed with stimulating lectures and excursions. Our terrific/knowledgeable Verde Group guides, Marsha and Dan, saw to it the weather was perfect every day! You know a person is really good at their job when they make it look so easy you could do it yourself! I wished we might have had just a little more unscheduled time to explore on our own. Road Scholars hit it out of the park on this one!!! Thank you!

My first Road Scholar trip, and it far exceeded my expectations. The speakers and group leaders provided so much insight and background to the history, geology, and culture of the various sites we visited. Marsha and Dan were exceptional group leaders. I was also pleasantly surprised that the hotel buffets serving our quite large group of people managed to provide the food fresh, flavorful, and presented nicely.

This was a wonderful tour - we saw so many different things! Elena and Lewis took great care of us. Elena's knowledge of New Mexico and Pueblo history was extensive, and her information on the Corn Dance made that experience even more special. It was so great being in a hotel so close to Santa Fe's plaza.

I had the greatest time. The guides, Kay Barber and Aaron Leventman , took us to many interesting places and kept track of us so no one was left behind. The lectures were all interesting and informative. No one fell asleep. The hotel Hilton Santa Fe was grand, as was the food they fed us. The hotel staff was ready to assist us. Our rooms were taken good care of. Weather was cooperative also. Loved this trip so much, I will return to New Mexico to the Opera next year. Hazel Rosenthal

This was my first Road Scholar adventure. Of highest importance to me was the balance of history and the coordination of events. Our team of Marsha and Dan with their background of the area and history knowledge were excellent in having us prepared for each daily itinerary. Each day was spectacular with the history and sites we visited. Would recommend to all. It was a large group and well managed. Mary from Grafton Ohio

The coffee was terrible. Considering how important that is for a lot of people, that was a big thing. THe hotel served better food to its other guests, not the Road Scholar crew. White bread toast instead of sweet rolls or croissants, for example. Our room at the Hilton filled up with smoke on two occasions, coming from the fire place I heard. Two of the speakers were great, the Indian lady/guide, and the talk on Georgia O'Keefe. Not so much the rest. Otherwise, the trip itself was highly informative, but could have been led more closely.

This was an excellent tour. I highly recommend it. The program was inclusive and very interesting. I found the food more than adequate and plentiful. My accommodations were excellent. Our tour leader, Kay Barber, was knowledgeable, charming and very helpful. As usual for Road Scholar, the people in my group were warm and interesting - as were some people that I met who were in the other groups.

The Santa Fe trip is well organized and exceeded our expectations. The trip includes a wide variety of interesting and historical sites, Native American pueblos, museums, educational lectures, and enchanting Santa Fe.

Arthur from Potomac, MD Number of programs attended: 1

The Santa Fe area is beautiful, and the Road Scholar exploration of it was excellent. The hotel could provide better food and maybe even free coffee outside of meal hours, although the rooms were fine and the location excellent. Some of the lectures were excellent, others could be more focused on what the trip was about; some needed details were not provided. And there were far too many people; albeit they were quite approachable and friendly. I certainly would recommend the trip, all in all.

Helen from New York, NY Number of programs attended: 4

This program offers a taste of the many things Santa Fe offers such as Native American culture, art, incredible scenery, great museums and excellent lectures. It is very well organized and makes the most of the available time. I would highly recommend it.

This was one of the best trips we have been on with Road Scholar. It was so informative about the Southwestern Indian tribes and their long history of living on the land, their cultural beliefs, and the hardships they endured.

A wonderful trip. Highly recommended. A lot to see and experience from prehistoric settlements up to WWII. Hotel and food were good. Kay and Eric were knowledgeable and very personable leaders.

I learned a lot about the region and culture of northern New Mexico through the presentations, field trips, and readings. It was also fun to meet other people from around the country. We had really good team leaders who added a great deal to our understanding of the region.

Bruce from Washington, DC Number of programs attended: 3

The leaders and speakers were wonderful and the program superb. New Mexico is a treasure house of history, culture, architecture and geology, and we were introduced to it all. Footnotes: 1. The visit to Los Alamos, which I was looking forward to greatly, was a disappointment in organization and content; 2. Hotel food was less than Santa Fe standards would call for.

Barb from Marshfield, WI Number of programs attended: 4

A superb combination of learning and experiencing firsthand the alluring distinctiveness of the Santa Fe area.

In a nutshell: If you enjoy stimulation that combines solidly researched information with point of origin context/site visitation, enroll for this program. It's overall quality of content, small group leadership and comfortable amenities will almost guarantee that you will chose to enroll in another Road Scholar tour. The planners and professionals in this company know what they are doing!

For me this program, my 21st, was informative and exciting, since I had never been to New Mexico before. The 7,000' elevation was a bit problematic for some, including me, as well as heat and relative dryness. (I live in Florida!) The good thing about Road Scholar is that you don't have to participate in all the activities. No tests! I find that as I get older I have to learn to pace myself. Not a problem with Road Scholar. This particular program had more than average numbers of participants, which made the bonding of my previous experiences less applicable. But we were divided into smaller, more manageable groups, which made up for this problem. The subjects covered were varied and well presented. Something for everybody! I am very glad I went!
