This program was my first Road Scholar trip, and if it's any indication of the quality of their programs, I will be a frequent traveler with this organization! It was well organized, offering educational opportunities as well as just plain fun travel. Our group leader, Louis-Gabriel, was terrific -- amiable, capable, well organized. I hope to travel on more Road Scholar trips, and hope he is our leader on some of them!

This trip captured the flavor of three distinct areas of France enhanced by the charm of Christmas markets and lights. Our group leader, Louis-Gabriel, energetically guided us through a well thought out itinerary, with a good balance between tours and free time. His warmth and interest in every participant was truly exceptional. As well - the meals were superb.

This program was comprehensive, interesting, and extremely well organized. The group leader, Louis-Gabriel, worked tirelessly to make sure that a diverse group of participants were able to learn, see, or experience the full complement of holiday experiences characteristic of Alsace, Paris, and Provence. It is difficult to pick out just one highlight, but this program whetted my appetite to return to France.

This beautiful trip was an experience I'll never forget. Our guide, Louis, was sweet, charming and took care of wandering lambs (and there were some wandering lambs among us). Colmar felt like home to me; I could have moved there and never left. Christmas Eve mass in the Cathédrale Saint-Sauveur d'Aix-en-Provence that I attended on my own, was lovely, only supplanted by the elegant Christmas Eve dinner that followed with the group. I've been hesitant to write so glowingly of this trip because I didn't want it to fill up before I had the chance to enroll for 2014, but family obligation require me to stay stateside this Holiday season. A small warning . as in any group, there will be some along who are ill (chickenpox in this case), some who are lame, some who are deaf and some who seem barely alive. We must remember, we are not there to make friends, but to make memories. And I did: I made memories, I even made a friend.

THIS PROGRAM WAS AN ABSOLUTE DELIGHT! THE PROGRAM DIRECTOR, LOUIS, IS THE BEST IN THE BUSINESS. HE PLANNED AND EXECUTED A WONDERFUL TOUR THAT EVERYONE IN OUR GROUP ENJOYED. WE VISITED ONE END OF FRANCE TO THE OTHER DURING CHRISTMAS TIME WITHOUT RUSH OR PANIC. THE INSTRUCTORS WERE DELIGHTFUL.

My husband and I have attended 24 holiday programs with Road Scholar and this ranks among the best. Our leader, Louis Bideau, was outstanding. He knew everybody by name and treated us all in a special, personal way. It would be hard to imagine a more beautiful town than Colmar during the holidays -- it is fantastic! Just google it and you will see what I mean! The contrast between Alsace (where Colmar is located) and Provence, the two best regions in France for holiday traditions, is striking, and visiting them is almost like going to two different countries. We enjoyed Aix-en-Provence a lot, too, and a unique treat on Christmas Day was visiting the crèche in Allauch, a typical Provencal village, with 300 santons, animations, and special lighting effects.

I so enjoyed my first ever trip & tour abroad! History is so much more clear when traveling in the footsteps of those who walked so many centuries before! Thanks to Road Scholar, I was able to experience that! We had marvelous hotels, visited and ate in great restaurants and experienced seeing and being in buildings once only read about. Best of all ~ we had the wonderful Louis. Gabriel Bideau for our Tour Guide! He saw to all our needs and made sure we were comfortable and enjoying ourselves. He is a true top rate guide! THANK YOU!

Learning about the traditions in another culture, France, was a wonderful experience. The trip took the American mindset back in time to age-old customs. Our group leader, Louis-Gabriel Bideau was the best!!
