I enjoyed the total experience in spite of the heat - surprising myself in the process by doing things I haven't done in years - horseback riding, even if just for a few moments; rock climbing, with lots of lovely help; the river; the perspective of the canyon; and eating cat tail. Add experiencing the joy of watching my granddaughter as she opened to the totality of aother world. She told her mother that she felt like she had been gone a month because so much had happened.Thank you to our leaders, Mike and Emery Young

What a bonding experience w/my 13 yr old grandson. I do not have the vocabulary to describe what I saw other than the most awesome sight ever. I learned while having an incredible experience WAY outside my comfort zone. Every day was so well organized and FULL. All I had o do was listen, follow instructions, and take in the wonders of the Canyon.

Oh my gosh! This was my 18th Road Scholar Program but the first one with my granddaughter and daughter along. It far surpassed my expectations. It is truly "in the middle of nowhere" on Route 66 (parts of the Disney movie Cars were "filmed" there!!!!) The motel was right out of the late 50's / early 60's and when we got into our rooms, I was a tad concerned BUT my "peeps" are very flexible and we quickly decided to make the best of it-----that was the first hour! As it turned out, Grand Canyon Caverns Inn is the perfect venue and we all bonded with the little motel straight out of the Cars movie!! The program itself was really an adventure. We learned so much about the desert flora and fauna, on hikes and short lectures in "The Betty Boop Room". We all got to try our hands at roping and riding if you so desired. Wait until you find out what an important part cattle play in our lives---not just food and leather!!! Our group leaders Mike and Emery Young were over the top. Karen Landis was outstanding, too. Many people get to see the Grand Canyon. How many get to spend an afternoon swimming in the Colorado River IN the Grand Canyon or spend a day White Water rafting with the Hualapai Indians 37 miles through the Grand Canyon stopping for lunch, to climb up to Travertine Canyon to play in the spring-fed waterfall or stop to paint themselves like Indians with Grand Canyon mud or take a helicopter flight out of The Grand Canyon? We did!!!!!! The 5 day adventure went by too quickly!!!!!

Although we were at first a bit concerned about the "middle of nowhere" location for this program, it turned out to be the perfect location for a "family adventure" since it provided room to roam for the kids and was centrally located for all activities. The leaders of our program (Jen, Amy and Karen) were excellent and very willing to share their knowledge of the area and activities. The river raft trip was a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

This program was a lot of fun and my son and grandchildren can't stop talking about what a great time we had especially riding the rapids. When we arrived, I was not sure we were at the right place. Here was an old motel littered with old cars and dinosaurs. Soon I learned that the place was fun, clean and well-located. The activities were challenging, but that added to the adventure.

A delightful exposure to the lands and people associated with the Grand Canyon, presented in a way that engaged and informed all three generations in attendance. It was our first exposure to a Road Scholar program and definitely stimulated us to try more.

Great program, and the family nature of the program was a great benefit. Of the 28 participants, ten were children of various ages. They were a great group of kids, and the kids were probably the highlight of the trip for my ten year old granddaughter. She has continued texting with them and has made some friends throughout the country. The program was fun and varied, and the instructors did a great job. Would like to see more family programs which can include three generations.
