Reviews, photos and videos for program: Birding the High Plains and Rocky Mountains of Southern Wyoming

For anyone who is unfamiliar with the area, this trip is a great introduction to CO/WY. I had never been before, and I was amazed at how many beautiful places (and birds!) we got to see. Also the food was great because we always had several options to choose from (most of the time could order anything off the menu), and the places we stayed at were comfortable.

Wonderful trip! We eat at a new local restaurant each day and they were all excellent. Accommodations were all so comfortable, my favorite being Saratoga Spa Resort, really enjoyed the hot springs. Both leaders were so friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommend this trip!

Logistics were well coordinated. We covered a lot of territory with varied terrain from the Wind River Pass with snow covered mountains to windy open grasslands. We had 12 participants & 2 trip leaders - perfect size group. We saw a lot of different birds & wildlife. I was exhausted by the end of the week, but loved every part of the trip!

Got a chance to visit grassland and wetland habitats of southern Wyoming, as well as some alpine situations as we crossed mountain passes. Instructors were personable and patient, and there was a mix of birding experience within the group--and usually that mix was a positive part of the group dynamic. This was the best-fed birding trip I've ever been on. We chose this trip because we had previously gone on a Mountain and Plains Institute-sponsored trip, and this one was a winner, too!

South Eastern Wyoming and North Eastern Colorado have great birding and spectacular scenery -- I was not expecting such diverse habitats and vistas. High mountain passes and prairie expanses are great to experience. Wind on the plains can be vicious!
