I've been back for a day and yet my heart and mind are still in the Outer Banks....from the wonderful people that I met...from fellow participants to all of the group leaders who gave so tirelessly of their time and knowledge. I highly recommend this trip to anyone. I agree wholeheartedly with everything that Christine and Elizabeth said from their attendance back in August of 2014. Enjoy!

Elizabeth from Brooklyn is SO right! This was my first Road Scholar trip, and it was nothing short of amazing! The field trips were fabulous--and fulfilled a lifelong dream of seeing the wild horses of Shackleford Banks! There was even a month-old foal in the water with his mama--even the ferry captain was awed all over again. We saw more wild horses at the Rachel Carson Reserve. Our hosts at Trinity--Laurie & Jacque--were delightful and always there for us. We were met at the Point of Arrival by Nancy, who somehow knew us by name! Mindy was a wonderful on-site teacher, as was Karena, who was in charge of setting up our agenda--I loved every minute of the schedule, and her contagious enthusiasm made this a special trip. Karena set up naturalist field trips with John and Jeanne, both well-versed and extremely knowledgable, and as willing to teach as she and Mindy were. Seeing raptors up close and personal at an evening lecture was spectacular. We met the most wonderful people, and were wading in the Atlantic & watching the stars every night--and were back out at 6am to watch the sunrise and wade in the water with the gulls & sandpipers. Liz from Brooklyn was correct in her assessment of all the other details! What a great intro to NC and Road Scholar!

This is the biggest little program ever! It has it all, great setting, warm, welcoming, intelligent hosts and teachers, a full rich schedule, great presenters comfortable rooms and restaurant class food. It is three nights but I felt as though I had been away for a week. The immersion in Barrier Island ecology and culture made it feel like a visit to another world. I have taken 7 Road Scholar programs and I feel this is may favorite!
