We spent a wonderful week with our granddaughter exploring the workings of musical theater on Broadway. All of the the children were enthusiastic musical theater buffs (as were their grandparents!). Under the guidance of the exceptional Explore New York staff, they bonded almost immediately which enabled everyone to enjoy the adventure even more. Each activity was more interesting and fun than the last. Nobody could wait for the next session. What fun to enrich everyone's appreciation with all that goes into a musical theater production with visits and lessons from actors, playwrights, dancers, and singers, as well as rehearsals and a short performance of our own. I would give this program a 5 plus!

This program is fabulous..It is well organized: the presenters are well informed - interested in everyone having a good time as well as providing the educational experience. I highly recommend.

Our experience was similar to those already posted - Our grand daughter was delighted with her choice as were we. It provided an overview of all the different ways one could be part of theater - not just on stage, but writer, costumes, dancer, etc etc. All the workshops were very well done with information and fun for both grand children and grand parents. Karl and Dan were excellent and really made a difference for the whole trip! We have already recommended it to a friend as we have our other Road Scholar inter-generational trips!

This program is a great introduction to the world of Broadway & what it is like to be in NYC & actually star in a show. Each child gets a chance to participate in a short musical number in the safety of our meeting room lead by former participants of musicals, dancelines & operas. You can solo or just be in the chorus line. In addition, you see the city from the top of the Empire State Bldg. & from the middle of 42nd ST. You meet people who are currently starring in plays & then go to see them on the stage. What a way to bond with your grandchild!!!

My granddaughter and I had great expectations for this trip and the actual experience was better than we ever imagined. The leaders, activities, speakers, etc. were excellent. I am not sure who had a better time--my granddaughter or me. I would definitely give this program a 5 star rating.

This is a five star program! From the accommodations to the leaders to the lectures, field trips, there wasn't a thing to be changed. My granddaughter and I had the time of our lives! Who gets to hang out with an actual child actor, spend a morning with Jafar, and meet Alladin, and dance with a choreographer who was a Rockette, laugh with a playwrite, and learn about how to imagine costumes, then follow that through completion. Then go to the performances! Wowza!!!

I can only echo what others have said. My almost 10-year-old granddaughter and I LOVED this program. (On the last day as we were getting up, she said, "Grandma, I don't want this week to end!" I didn't either!) She enjoyed her new-found friends, and we both learned so much from the fun activities. The instructors and guests were amazing! A major goal of the program was the bonding of the two generations. That was definitely accomplished as we shared in the activities and in bedtime conversations. As icing on the cake we were all given a DVD of pictures that the staff had taken of us during the week. What wonderful memories we all have! Thanks to all who shared their expertise in this terrific program! Nickie

I would highly recommend this program. I cant think of anything that would deter me from recommending this program to others. In fact, I plan to bring my other granddaughter in a year or two when she's ready. It was great!

This was the best of the nine intergenerational programs I have attended! Very well organized and Dan Egan was superb at involving the grandchildren. I most highly recommend it.

An absolute joy of a program. Highly qualified and gifted staff and instructors. A carefully crafted program that provided an immersion experience into the world of broadway musicals in a way that was joyful as well as educational. Always felt cared for, supported, and taken care of.

This was our third intergenerational trip with Road Scholar...3 different kids, 3 different programs. All well organized and well done. Being in a very large city provided challenges, but they were handled well. It is a pretty active program, lots of walking on city streets and steps to subways...fine for us, but a bit of a challenge for some participants. Comfortable shoes are a must! The program was great. A glimpse into the "behind the scenes" world of musical theater. Meeting a writer, a casting director, an adult dancer, and a child actor were real highlights for us. We loved the musicals we attended. Our granddaughter loved it as much as we did. Another great Road Scholar effort! Thanks. Kay Nelson
