The Abe Lincoln and the Civil War program in Springfield, Il is excellent and worth the money and the trip. Great program lecturers and Springfield has a lot to offer. You really felt that you walked the streets of Lincoln.

If you are a fan of history, and particularly if you have an interest in the Civil War and Lincoln's role in the conflict, you will enjoy this very well planned program. There were so many parts to this program that required careful planning and accurate schedules -- speakers, tours, audio-visual presentations, transportation, pre-ordered lunches, dinners both at the hotel and at other venues. The program coordinators and Lincoln Land Community College did an amazing job of coordinating all aspects of each day. The materials that they provided us also included items that should perhaps be “standard issue” by all programs: a page listing nearby hospitals and pharmacies, our name tags that included contact phone numbers for the program coordinators plus the name, address and phone for the hotel, and inserts that fit behind our name tags that included the schedule and details for each day of the program. We appreciated these thoughtful additions. Each day was a good combination of speakers, tours, and time for free exploration. With the help of my friend that I traveled with, I have written a blog for the trip which can be found at emknesper.blogspot.com. Happy traveling!
