This was a relaxing and entertaining program. I enjoyed it a lot, having driven past the lake previously and wanting to return to it someday. Seeing 5 different groups from other countries was fun, hearing their music and watching them dance. We actually went to the center where the people stayed; most in them were 12-25 yrs old, but their counselors with them were older. At the center we ate lunch and were entertained by the Romanian group and talked to them - some could hardly speak English, others were good at it. As a widow I was alone but decided not to share a room with someone I did not know this time, but there were plenty of times at meals and some free time to interact. I found it quite relaxing to sit on one of their several balconies found at different places on the campus. The beauty of Lake Junaluska was also very serene, relaxing to just be there. Most of our classes and entertainment was on its campus. We stopped for a shopping period one day in Waynesville, but it did not interest me that much; all the group was ready to return in 1 hr. After the conference I went to a friend's who lived about 45 mins away; we went to Hendersonville and I wished we had more time to roam there. The Blue Ridge Parkway also is very close to the area of Lake Junaluska - if you have time, plan to take extra time to drive some of it, stop and eat at Pisgah Inn. All in all the days at Lake Junaluska and seeing Folkmoot entertainment groups from different places in the world was well worth the trip there. I plan to return to the Lake there again.

Excellent, well-run program in beautiful setting with nice hotel and great food. If you like seeing/hearing dancers/musicians from around the globe, you'll enjoy this experience. I likely will do again...as different countries are represented each year.
