I learned so much about New England and our nation's early history. It is also nice to have most things planned-including transportation to sites, meals, tips, etc.

Portsmouth, New Hampshire is surely one of the most beautiful towns in New England, and it was a privilege and a delight to attend a Road Scholar program there, based in the lovely, historic Sise Inn, which is within walking disdance of everything. There were many highlights -- visiting Strawbery Banke, "meeting" Celia Thaxter and learning about the Isles of Shoals, strolling the Marginal Way in nearby Ogunquit and then going out on a boat with a Maine lobsterman and watching him haul in his catch, and guided tours of historic houses and gardens. Our lunches and dinners were excellent, our leader, Bridget, was superb, and we had just the right mix of activities and free time. This was my 220th Road Scholar program and my husband's 233rd, and we can't recommend it highly enough.
