Reviews, photos and videos for program: Hiking Amid Nature and History of the Snake River Plain

We found this trip very interesting and informative. We had never been to Idaho and the area is definitely different from Illinois. The informative talks on the bus and in the evenings were all very interesting. The people we met were interesting and friendly. The accommodations were pleasant and the Monastery had lots of places to sit and read or talk, in the little free time we had. The food was plentiful and good and there were always hot drinks at any time. The program was well run and kept us busy from 7:45 AM to 8 PM daily. There was time on a bus each day, as the hikes were not nearby. This was a good time to read, talk, knit, or sleep! We found the hikes easy to moderate and the areas we hiked in were vastly different each day. There were still flowers blooming and the weather was perfect for hiking. We really enjoyed our week in Idaho.

One of my favorites! Just barely a moderately challenging experience but the terrain was unique to me, offering something new and educational each day. Program layout was superb with all group leaders offering insight and historical facts. Our glimpse of monastic life was a distinct experience in itself. Splendid hospitality, outstanding food and immaculate accommodations.

Enjoyed taking the less taxing hikes so I could stop and smell the Sage Brush and take lots of photos. Learned about Monastery life. All hiking levels were accommodated. You need to be comfortable hiking at 6,000 plus elevations.

Great hiking, views, history & geology on this trip thanks to Father Hugh and other knowledgeable presenters and group hiking leaders! We learned so much about the Snake River Plain area through hikes & lectures. Really enjoyed the hiking options each day and the food at the Monastery was wonderful.
