This is a wonderful program for people who are interested in learning about
1. the history of the Polynesians in Hawaii and the impact of the missionaries and other European and Americans,
2. the impact of that history on contemporary Hawaii political and social issues and the current culture of the islands,
3. the geology of the islands,
4. the botany and zoology of the islands.
The team leaders were great, the external consultants and experts were very interesting, and the places visited were very fun!
Just a suggestion; if you take this tour, consider using a free day to take a helicopter tour. It was a spectacular part of our trip. It is expensive, but was a highlight of the trip. Go for a doorless chopper if you are a photographer and make sure that in making your reservation you will get a door seat. Also see if the chopper firm will make a video of your trip available. It is a wonderful addition!
