Reviews, photos and videos for program: Intergenerational Adventure on Three Coastal Islands: Sea Turtles, Lighthouses and Shrimp Trawl

We expected that the program would be great and that our grandson would love the experience. However, we did not have expectations for ourselves other than being with out grandson learning about the turtles he loved. We left the program thrilled by what we learned and saw and can not stop talking about Sea Turtles and all that we learned. Seeing the children attending the program come together as a group and sharing their excitement over the days and evenings was rewarding.

My grandson had a wonderful time learning about sea turtles, watching a turtle nest, and holding all of the various sea life that was available on the shrimp boat. The hammerhead shark was his favorite. He swam daily at the resort pool and enjoyed the game room after dinner. Learning about and holding snakes (and touching an alligator) on the last day put an exclamation point on the week. We both have wonderful memories of a great adventure!

In response to Katherine's complaint about Minecraft occupying too much of the kids' time, I would like to point out it was their FREE time, not time during planned educational experiences. Further, my grandson explained that since all the iPhones and iPads being used were on the same server, the kids could enter one another's virtual worlds (to play pranks, leave gifts, move furniture and buildings, etc.) and thus, were bonding in a very modern way. Also, when they were playing games while on sometimes long bus rides, they were quieter and less intrusive to adult conversation.

Great program the week before but we felt the kids relied too much on electronics! Fortunately grandparents were good about limiting time kids used electronics!

This year was the 3rd time I have done this with grandsons. Excellent program. Be prepared for hot, humid days filled with fun. A suggestion for the staff -Perhaps there could be a video or computer game the kids could do in their free time. The group this time spent much time playing Minecraft, which seemed to totally occupy them. The time could be put to better use. Great speakers and leaders.

This was my first experience participating in the road scholar experience with my grandchild. We were all a little nervous what to expect. From the time we first met as a group there was a great feeling of being special to the program leaders. Everyday was filled with new experiences for all of us. I will never forget it and am looking forward to bringing my next grandchild to the program. Thank you Road Scholar staff for making this a trip we will always remember!!!!

My grandson and I had a grand time! He was fully engaged in the program which was well planned and well presented by young "zoologists" who were enthusiastic and knowledgeable. This was my third intergenerational trip with Road Scholar, and the best so far!

This was a wonderful trip with great leaders. Be aware, though, that the "beach time" is only a small part of the trip and was non-existent for the activities planned for the adults. Some of us enjoyed staying with the kids. There was also a lot of down time at the condo swimming pool, which the kids enjoyed very much but which might not be different from your normal summer activities at home.
