This was an enjoyable program. The combination of beautiful scenery and info about the history and customs of the area were both interesting and educational. Unfortunately, it was supposed to be a "moderately challenging" hiking program with some sightseeing. It turned out to be a sightseeing program with some "active" walking. The bus rides were longer than anticipated, so the leaders kept cutting the hikes short in order to stay on schedule. This has the potential to be an excellent program if the organizers and planners get realistic in travel times and if everyone would board the bus each day earlier, say at 8 a.m. instead of 9 a.m. In addition, lunches could be eaten on the trail instead of in rest areas or parks to save a little time.

The Nova Scotia tour was unforgettable. The scenery was amazing, and the various speakers were knowledgeable and entertaining as they described the Nova Scotia history and cultures. We even learned about lobsters! Our guides were knowledgeable as well as flexible, inventive, and entertaining - a delightful couple. My only criticism is the activity rating which needs to be changed from Moderately Challenging to Active. The hikes were usually shortened or eliminated because of time issues. In considering all options, I would suggest not changing the program, just the activity designation so hikers won't be as disappointed.

The trip to Nova Scotia was very interesting historically. We learned a lot about the 18th century conflict between the British and the French. The Acadian culture was also interesting. The hiking was not at all strenuous, which suited some but not others.

A very enjoyable trip; maybe not as much hiking as I would have liked, but well compensated by the varied and beautiful scenery all along, the very knowledgeable "pure-bred" leaders we had, who did their utmost and worked tirelessly to make this program a very enjoyable one. It was a new program and the leaders dealt with the few unpredictables very professionally.

I loved the trip. Great hikes, great leaders, great company, great food. Nova Scotia is just so beautiful and I learned a lot about the history, too. And we saw moose!

Although this program was enjoyable, it was not a hiking program. It was really more of a sight seeing sampler of Nova Scotia with some walking / casual hiking included. The activity level was 'Active' and not 'Moderately Challenging'. The leaders were very nice and very knowledgable about the area as they are local. It would have been a great program if it hadn't been designated a hiking trip. I've done over 15 Road Scholar trips and this was the first that did not meet or exceed my expectations.
