Run, don't walk to sign up in 2015 for this delightful tour. Excellent leaders and instructors will take you back to a simpler time. Enjoy music, scenery and people that will refresh your soul. Read about it and then think "twice as nice as described". We guarantee you will not want to leave the Ozarks!

I had a wonderful time, and learned a lot about the early settlers in Arkansas. Late September is a perfect time for this program...the weather was just beautiful. And the music is the best part! So many talented musicians that could sing and play the folk music.

The program was fun and energizing. The coordinator and presenters made it that way. WE sang together, danced, and even gigged. Can't wait for our next Road Scholar program. Great participants too!!

This ranks up there with the best of programs and the best price. Imagine you are back in time. You watch the household items you need being made by hand. You hear the songs that tell the stories of how life was lived and what problems had to be dealt with, You see the instruments being played from the time period and played by the young children along with the adults. Some really professional musicians along with those just trying out entertain you day and night with many performances. The food includes recipes from years ago as well as vegetarian choices--and huge breakfasts. The buffet style allows for several choices of meats and veggies and deserts. Transportation everywhere is provides--from you cabin as well. Or, you can get your Ozark legs walking up and down the big hill before and after meals The Folk Center has several auditoriums to use for square dance instructions, to monologues, to music, to games From Sunday to Friday morning you truly felt back in time. Then the nature was also the star. Blanchard Caverns and Blanchard Springs and a float trip on the White River allowed you to see the forests and cliffs and caverns of the area. Picnics there made socializing so easy. I was a solo travelers. I had a roommate assigned, and really felt a kinship. The other participants were a mix of couples, kinfolk, friends, and solos like me.

Really great program. Music and crafts and history and mountain and forest setting were marvelous, trip to cave and other scenic areas and also to "town" were all great. Leader and instructors terrific. We've done almost 30 Elderhostels and I think this is my favorite.

I recently attended a Road Scholar trip "An Ozark Experrience" for the first time. I was with friends that have been on many trips. I felt very welcomed by all. The programs were excellent and informative. The area and accomodations were outstanding and very comfortable. I do appreciate all the efforts of the leaders that made my trip so enjoyable.

The Ozark Experience was truly magnificent. We learned new crafts, saw awe inspired scenery, and listened to beautiful "mountain music", which pervades the local culture. We met wonderful people; including fellow u scholars and teachers. Even though this was ou first Road Scholar adventure, it certainly won't be our last. Peter and Linda Browne

Roberta from Holts Summit, MO Number of programs attended: 16

This excellent program exceeded my expectations. Mary Gillihan's love of the region and its music added so much to the program. It is in a beautiful part of the country and the trip on the White River was delightful with the oarsmen singing and many sightings of birds, turtles and even a bald eagle.

The trip was such fun with amazing crafts, beautiful scenery, interesting history that was told from the first person perspective and so well prepared and delivered. The music and the musicians were outstanding and we listened to their CD's all the way home. Being on the river and in the Cavern were truly worshipful experiences.....Be ready to bring home a heart full of the wonder and appreciation of God's blessings and beauty. Suzann

This was my first Road Scholar trip, and it was just perfect! The presenters were excellent, very informed and talented (playing instruments, singing, square dancing.... Both the presenters and the shop keepers in the Ozark Town were very friendly and easy to talk to. The facilities and food were excellent and comfortable. The pace was just right - walking then resting while listening.

Dennis from Imperial, NE It was an enjoyable week. Any of the staff you can mention were super. I would have liked to have a session on explaining the unique instruments of the area. A session on stringed instruments would be nice. I especially enjoyed the private concert because of the informal atmosphere. Early during the week having a tour of the town would be helpful also. All in all, Mary and Linda were the icing on the cake. Thanks so much. I would recommend this program for a lazy casual outing.
