I enjoyed the low-key aspect of this program. I'm into history and academic pursuits and enjoyed the sessions on the history of Christmas. I could have spent much more time at the Abby Rockefeller Folk Art Museum and the DeWitt Wallace Decorative Arts Museum (combined in one building). They are exceptional and more to see than time to do so. (So consider coming a day early or staying after.) I flew into Washington, DC, overnighted near Union Station, then took the train the next day. I rented a car in Williamburg at the end of the program, spent a day at Jamestown, then drove to DC to fly home. As for the Clarion Inn, I would not describe it as "well-appointed"--I would say "under-maintained." The bathroom hairdryer was grungy--I asked that it be replaced. The bed sheets were 1/2-star. So don't expect much there. BUT the restaurant inside the Clarion Inn provided abundant, delicious meals, the front desk staff were friendly and responsive, and the location is excellent--just a few minutes' walk to the Historical District, the next-best place to paying much more to be a few minutes closer.

Great program, but hard to get there. We wished we would have had our own transportation. There are no direct flights to Williamsburg. There is much to see in the area and we were sorry to leave without exploring more.

You can use anything that I said in my comments. NBK

If you like early American history, this program and place will be very interesting and educational. It would probably takes days or weeks to see and experience the basics.
