If you like history (from prehistoric, to medieval, to renaissance) and wine, this is the program for you. Just seeing a part of France beyond Paris or Provence is worth the trip. Want to know all about Bordeaux wines (regions, appellations, tastes, etc.) and truffles? This is the program for you.

Exceptional tour of Bordeaux wine country. Culinary and wine -what more could one ask for? Fellow travelers and tour guide were part of the fun

My husband and I enjoyed the trip with the Road Scholar mainly because of the French guide who let us experience the wineries and her friends in her backyard. We found the trip very informative. The river cruise was first class. I would recommend this trip highly. I did enjoy the small group and they were all friendly great people.

Fantastic program. The cave paintings are awe inspiring, and I now know so much more about how to taste wines, how they are grown and produced, and how French wines are different from California wines. Mary Chantal is an amazing, knowledgeable, fun guide.

21 Road Scholar members made friends with each other and shared learning about French culture, history, and wine in the extremely beautiful areas of Bordeaux and the Perigord. I cannot say enough about the talent of our guide and her careful planning and attention to all of us and all the details of our travel adventure.

The South of France tour was very well organized but intense. The first 4 days we were based in Sarlat which gave our group a chance to get to know each other. By the time we were on the river boat winery part of the tour, we were like an extended family that actually gets along. Our group leader knew the area very well and included in our tour small, unique wineries as well as a cooking demonstration by a local, acclaimed chef. Merci Beaucoup, Marie Chantal!

I just completed the South of France by River: Wine and History from Sarlat to Bordeaux program. It was a wonderful, informative tour. The tour director was incredibly knowledgeable and competent. The other participants on the tour were so open to learning and to others that it made a very fun group. Southwest France is beautiful in the springtime. The food was to die for. Best of all was the learning about the history of the area and the wine. Lovely trip! I highly recommend it

This is an excellent tour for anyone interested in learning about the prehistoric caves in France and the wines of Bordeaux. The tour provides an excellent balance of education and "fun". It is also balanced nicely between group activities and free time. Physical activity was reasonable and appropriate. The tour leader earned 5 stars -- certainly the best I have encountered in many years of touring. The tour offers excellent value in terms of cost versus benefits! John H.

I loved this exploration of southwest France. Because I always wanted to venture into Lascaux & view the cave drawings, I chose this adventure and of course I love red wines! Our guide Marie Chantal was a charming person; her knowledge of history & vineyards made each day a personal learning experience. Many new friends were an added bonus. Judy from Ft Lauderdale, FL

Before this trip, all we knew of France came from two brief trips to Paris. Now we know so much more, thanks to Mary Chantal's excellent guidance through the Dordogne and Bordeaux regions. We highly recommend this tour and guide to red-wine lovers who also love exploring new places and eating very well.

An excellent experience for those who are interested in French history, architecture, language, wine, and of course, food. Our Guide, Mary-Chantal, was outstanding in her knowledge of all the above, and in her ability to communicate her enthusiasm for the places on the itinerary. My husband and I give it the highest rating!

Packed program with very useful instruction from the leader, who knows everything about wine and about the region. Great food. And the new-for-me information about wine was useful and exciting. The experts among us seemed as satisfied as the novices like me.
