San Miguel de Allende and Guanajuato are beautiful areas of Mexico. I always felt safe and learned much about Mexican history. Be sure to bring comfortable shoes as cobblestones are very hard on feet, ankles, knees and hips. As someone else mentioned, there are no room safes in SMA hotel. However, this hotel has beautiful grounds and you will enjoy your stay there.

I have just downloaded my 781 photos and can not stop smiling. What a lovely, magical place. Our guides were cordial, helpful and informative. The residents of San Miguel were welcoming and not speaking Spanish was not a problem. The side trips added breath to the experience and I would not hesitate to return to this part of Mexico, alone or with my husband who is equally enthusiastic about the trip. Thank you Road Scholar and Geronimo Travel for everything!

This was a delightful trip. SMA is a beautiful, charming city with welcoming, sweet people. It's history, art, food and charm are over the top. I loved it.

The program in San Miguel de Allende is delightful. If your only experience in Mexico is the beaches of Acapulco and Cozumel, do yourself a favor and travel inland to this charming city. You will gain a new appreciation for Mexican history and culture.

I just returned from San Miguel de Allende, Mexico and it is a delightful, educational and fun trip! I highly recommend this program to anyone. It is a lot of walking on cobblestone and up hill so we got lots of good exercise! N. Meidinger, Texas

I enjoyed this trip immensely. San Miguel is a beautiful colonial city with lots of interesting architecture, art galleries, shops, restaurants and a large expatriate Amercian population. We also explored areas outside of the city, including Dolores Hidalgo, a botanical garden and a natural hot spring. There is time for wandering and exploring on your own. Guanajuato, another colonial city, is extremely photogenic with lots more to explore. THe lectures were very informative and added to the overall experience. I'd like to see an option to spend additional time in Guanajuato, and perhaps other nearby colonial cities, such as San Luis Potosi.

This was my 1st trip with RS. San Miguel is delightful. The 1st hotel we stayed at was charming. Food there was just okay. I liked the guest lecturer who spoke about what it's like living in SM as an expat. Other lectures on the history of SM were interesting but a bit plodding and repetitive. I wish there had been some planned evening excursions to theater or to hear music. The visit to the botanical garden was a highlight, especially because the guide there was so easy to understand, passionate and funny. Excursions to the tile making factory and the hot springs could be nixed, as far as I'm concerned. A cooking class or in making papel picado(traditional Mexican style paper making) or some other hands-on activity would have been a lot more fun. The final day in Guanajuato felt rushed. More time there at some of the less touristy places, would have been appreciated. I enjoyed getting to know so many interesting world travelers and storytellers.

My husband & I thoroughly enjoyed this trip. We thought that Hidee, Salvadore & John were the best and their passion for Mexican culture was contagious. I loved learning about the Mexico struggle for Independence and even enjoyed the lectures which I initially thought I wouldn't! We plan on looking into more of the Road Scholar trips to Mexico because of them!

San Miguel is beautiful. It is a great and safe place to explore. My new friends really enjoyed time to shop and eat together. Our field trips were great. My only negative is in the style of teaching. Mexican history--especially of the revolution times--can be presented with a style that takes advantage of the educated students. We were just read to from slides during Salvadores lecture. By the way, we were not asked to evaluate Salvedore-- only John
Overall this trip needs some reorganization
