11 Days | 10 Nights
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Moderate
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

This program was a wonderfully educational adventure back in time to explore my Acadian heritage. Many thanks to Bridget Gallagher for making this such a memorable experience!

We heard lively music as we participated in an Acadian Kitchen party. We smelled baking bread as we toured centuries-old houses in the Village Historique Acadian. We tasted a typical hearty Acadian meal. We touched a beaver pelt held by a fur trapper re-enactor in the place where some Acadians hid after the Deportation. We saw a magnificent sunset on Chaleur Bay as we ended a wonderful home visit. MERCI BEAUCOUP, L’ACADIE! MERCI BEAUCOUP, ROADSCHOLAR!

This Road Scholar program was new this summer. The Tourist Bureau for each location in New Brunswick worked with RS to plan the activities and gave us a warm welcome. We had local guides or park rangers explain the history of the Acadians at each location. We visited the first settlement of the French at the St. Croix International Historic site. We visited forts, museums and recreated Acadian Villages while leaning about the history and life of the people. We stayed in excellent to very nice motels at each location. The food was very good to excellent too. We were a small group of 14 participants and everyone got along well. Our coordinator Bridget Gallagher was excellent. I highly recommend this program. A wonderful adventure thru New Brunswick! The sites that we visited, the stories of the Acadian people thru the years, the villages, the Atlantic shore, the lighthouses, and the museums all combined to make this an experience not to be missed. The most memorable for many of us was the home visit. Our hostess welcomed us with a wonderful seafood dinner, and, after dinner, stories and a beautiful Caraquet sunset. Having the Canadian Tourism Bureau present provided us an opportunity to visit additional locations and offered hands on experiences that might not have been available to the traditional tourist.
