6 Days | 5 Nights
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Easy
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

This was our first RS program, and it was a terrific experience! We attended with our two granddaughters, and we enjoyed it as much as they! Cindy was great...extremely knowledgeable with a super personality that connected with kids and grandparents alike...a rare quality! I would highly recommend this program.

What a great time. The staff was wonderful. The children were fun and great to work with. If anyone wants to have a really enjoyable time this is a program to attend. My granddaughter is still talking non stop.

This was an excellent intergenerational program for my 12 year old granddaughter and me. This was our third and there will be more. The staff and presenters, especially our group leader Cindy, were fabulous. Each and every one was personable, knowledgeable and helpful. Some of the participants were first timers and were warmly welcomed by those of us who had been before. I cannot say enough good things and hope that many more will attend in the future.

A beautiful and informative journey to Chincoteague Island, VA where we learned more about the wild ponies and life on this special barrier island.

Alice from Springfield, VA Number of programs attended: 2
Date attended: 08/10/14 - 08/15/14
This was a wonderful program for us and our grandchildren. We learned a lot about the ponies, marine life, NASA rockets -- and it was very enjoyable. Highly recommend it.

Geraldine from Elmira, NY Number of programs attended: 1
Date attended: 07/13/14 - 07/18/14
My first RS program has left me with a taste for more. My granddaughter (age 11) is a horse lover and Misty and the Wild Ponies of Chincoteague Island was perfect for us both. It will provide you and your grandchild with wonderful memories - well worth the money. We appreciated the free time scheduled to explore the town on our own and take advantage of the beautiful weather to enjoy the pool and a trip to the beach.

Doris from Fairfax, VA Number of programs attended: 18
Date attended: 08/11/13 - 08/16/13
Both my granddaughter and I enjoyed this program, the first RS program that we have taken together. Originally I thought that there might be too much free time scheduled, but I now think that there was just the right amount. I especially enjoyed the seafood dinners!

Worth the time and money. This program is great for the grandkids and the grandparents as well.

Kathy from Alliance, OH Number of programs attended: 1
Date attended: 08/04/13 - 08/09/13
This program was a perfect first Road Scholar program for us with our 10-year-old granddaughter. There was a great balance of hand-on experiences, learning new things about the ponies and life on this delightful island, both past and present, and sharing a little free time with new friends. We saw more wild ponies than we even expected and enjoyed the add-on horseback riding opportunity.

Sally from Fenton, MI Number of programs attended: 7
Date attended: 07/14/13 - 07/19/13
The "Misty of Chincoteague" program we attended with our granddaughter was delightful. Our ten-year old granddaughter was thrilled with the entire program, made friends with other young participants, loved Cindy, the leader of the program, and learned many new things through the program. I highly recommend this program for grandchildren who have read and loved the books.
