This was a perfect Fall trip. Hikes were interesting, the terrain varied, beautiful water falls and Fall colors. Our lodging was very comfortable and the meals delicious. The staff were excellent and met all of our individual needs. Special thanks to Jenny Monroe and Neil Yoder. I'm hoping to do a repeat in Spring when the water falls are filled with Spring time water!

lovely time of year for a hiking trip. Great scenery, knowledgeable instructors and so much to do in addition to the hiking. Great way to meet new people - everyone was helpful for someone who was more out of practice than others!!

A very enjoyable program. The hikes were moderately challenging, the staff friendly and knowledgeable, and the scenery was spectacular. The side-trips to museums and wineries were a delightful addition to the week.

Loved hiking in the Finger Lakes! Excellent staff and accommodations and the rock-wall activity was a bonus! Also enjoyed wine tasting and meeting some interesting folks! Great trip!

I would like to add my accolades to the responses of my fellow hikers. Hiking the Finger Lakes Trails is a terrific program. I live in the area but decided to do the program with a friend from New Hampshire. I learned many things about the beautiful Finger Lakes area that I hadn't known and went to areas that were new to me. The staff is wonderful and very helpful. I learned some techniques for hiking in slippery areas after a rain. My hiking poles were useful and I never felt rushed. Some days, we had choices of hikes, and there were other activities such as visiting two wineries and a small museum. We had a nice small group of 12 plus leaders. Everyone was friendly. The Watson Homestead is very comfortable and in a beautiful setting. The food was tasty and plentiful. The last day we were given vouchers to visit the Corning Museum of Glass and the Rockwell Museum of Western Art. Both museums are definitely worth visiting and Market Street in downtown Corning has some interesting galleries and shops.

Great hiking in a picturesque area ( waterfall, gorges, forests) run by a knowledgable, caring and responsive staff. The educational lectures and wine tasting were good also.

This is one of the most beautiful areas I have ever visited. I highly suggest it if you are a fan of hiking and scenery as well as enjoying a glass of wine. But be aware you need to be in shape. There is a lot of up and own, but well worth it.

First trip for my husband and me with the Road Scholars. The hikes were well planned and guided. We saw many beautiful sights of hills and trees, wild flowers, water falls and pools, went down deep gorges and had spectacular views looking up the gorges. Busy every day. The hikes were challenging but not impossible for me and I was happy I could do them. Now i am ready to explore other hikes with RS. The company was great.

This is a lovely trip on which one gets to see beautiful countryside with gorges and waterfalls, woods and trails and steps and bridges built by the CCC. This is interspersed by wineries and lectures and a 36' climbing wall. The Watson Homestead is friendly and pleasant, clean and comfortable but the opposite of posh. Leaders are engaging and warm. The level of effort is more moderate than challenging, allowing for a sense of accomplishment without anxiety. I definitely recommend it.

The Finger Lakes Hiking trip was amazing! The deep gorges and numerous waterfalls were breathtaking, as was the CCC stonework along the trails - the bridges, walls, stairways, shelters, and even picnic tables. I felt like I stepped into another world. And the staff was very knowledgeable and organized. I would highly recommend this trip.

I was sad to see this program end. The location is perfect - quiet and beautiful. Everyone involved was very organized, great food and terrific hikes. Moderate in intensity and extreme in scenery and sights. So understandable why so many people return.

Patricia from Mendota, MN Number of programs attended: 2

Absolutely amazing scenery, excellent guidance, and comfortable, down-to-earth accommodations. I had a great time. This program is a good workout - I was very glad that I had kept up with my home workouts prior to doing it, because that made it much easier to navigate the more difficult areas of the hikes. I recommend it!

Barb from Stillwater, MN Number of programs attended: 3

This program exceeded my expectations. Our guides were very knowledgeable, encouraging, and interesting. The scenery was breathtaking. Activity level was on the high side of "moderately challenging."

Andrea from McLean, VA Number of programs attended: 3

Fantastic hiking. I enjoyed every minute. Our leaders Nick and Pat were outstanding, extremely knowledgeable about the area. Very entertaining, both had great stories. I have never seen so many waterfalls that were actually flowing. The work of the CCC in the NY state parks was very impressive. I had a great time and feel revived.

Ellen from Westerville, OH Number of programs attended: 11

The program was extremely well organized. The guides and speakers were outstanding. The waterfalls and the leaves were beautiful. I would definitely recommend this hiking trip.

I will simply "ditto" what Laura wrote; but add that what makes Road Scholar (Elderhostel) trips special for me are the participants. They're usually curious and upbeat, interesting because they're interested, and fun to be around!

This is a wonderful program. It lives up to everything promised in the catalog. The group leaders are passionate about their jobs. The hikes are well-planned and organized. Each day is a new adventure. The Watson Homestead is clean and comfortable in a beautiful setting. I went primarily for the hiking but also enjoyed the wineries and museums.

This area is an unknown beauty. If you like waterfalls, you will like this program. The accommodations are rustic, but adequate. The food could use some improvement.

Great program for people who like to hike. The scenery and waterfalls were beautiful and the program well run.
