We thoroughly enjoyed learning more about one of our favorite cities. The hotel was charming and our guide, Don, was outstanding. We used public transportation quite a bit, so we were exposed to lots of interesting city residents. The walks were varied--some along city streets and some in parks and woodlands. The program description was clear on the activity levels. It was a great week and I would recommend it to anyone interested in learning about historical and contemporary San Francisco.

Wonderful way to see the diversity and beauty of this city. But for some, the activity level might be too strenuous. Though there is some city walking, be prepared for somewhat taxing hikes through the Presidio, up to Coit Tower, and up to Twin Peaks and out Sutro Forest. In San Francisco, just getting off the bus and walking to the next street uphill can be laborious. And be prepared for the weather elements of fog, gusty winds, and cool drizzle.

Outstanding way to learn about the neighborhoods of San Francisco. One of the best ever!

Thoroughly enjoyed this program. We just moved into the Bay area and used this program to learn about the various neighborhoods and public transportation in San Francisco. It fulfilled our goals for the program. Besides expected sites, our leader showed us public parks (PO-OP) on top of buildings. These are parks built for public use by private companies. They are hidden treasures. For our free afternoon, we left the group at Golden Gate Park. We took the bus including a transfer on our own back to the hotel. We then went to the Sundance Kabuki Theater to see a Japanese movie. The hotel is located near Japantown and the theater. We were a small group but a friendly group. Our leader was just great.

Don McLaurin was our guide, and he also does volunteer walking tours for the Public Library. This has allowed him to always have alternative plans in case of bad weather or World Series championship celebrations. Result is contact with many neighborhoods and a becoming familiar with public transportation in the city. We've just moved out to the East Bay area and we hoped to use the course as our orientation to SF and use of the city's transportation. Don and this course really delivered!!

A great overview of what S.F. has to offer. Tired at the end of each day, but looked forward to the next day and its adventures!
