There were so many things about this trip that were special and interesting. Our leaders and bus driver were superb. If you are only going to CA once this is the trip because it takes in so much.

Very pleasant and relaxing trek of 2000+ miles through Northern California to visit some of the most spectacular parks in California! All of the arrangements for bus, meals, hotels and park visits were exceptionally well organized, the group was congenial and our guides & docents were interesting and knowledgable.

We saw National parks that I had always wanted to see--the big trees of Sequoia and the coast Redwoods, the magnificent cliffs of Yosemite, the impressive volcanic Mt. Lassen. Other stops along the way--for instance the tour of Shasta Dam and the visit to the famous silver/gold rush town of Virginia City--were unexpectedly fascinating. Bus travel to some locations were long by necessity, but we had an excellent driver and the locations we visited were well worth the travel. Virginia Talbot, Highlands NC

The National Parks were fabulous. Not only were our guides and lecturers great but it's also great to leave the driving on those winding roads to someone else while you just relax and enjoy the beauty. Bonnie B

Jerry D. from CT I am in agreement for the most part with my travel companions. The leaders and the bus driver were exceptionally proficient and they made every effort to attend to our needs, as well as making trip more enjoyable then our expectations. However, there are a few differences of opinion that i have with my fellow travelers, though some would call them trivial. There were some instances in some of the buffets that the plates needed to be rejected because they were too dirty to eat off of them. The Food Court in Yosemete was totally mismanaged in terms of the service. The site selection at one of the hotels was in an area that was 10 degrees higher then normal. In this instance a lecture followed the dinner that was 30 minutes longer then necessary and most of us dozed off until it ended. There was lunch stop that served superb food, but they were ill prepared to serve 25 people in the time allowed for lunch. We were served last and it took away a great deal of enjoyment of the meal. We didn't take this trip for the food, by any means, These criticisms are directed at the efficiency of the facilities used for the trip, and can be easily corrected with the application of basic management practices. By all means take this trip and you will have memories and photos that will last a lifetime.

National Parks of California tour was very good.... informative, well structured, good speakers and unbelievable scenery. We were out 4 days early for tour of SF and bay ...Alcatraz day tour was GREAT... night tour not worth it. Fisherman's Wharf and Chinatown were typical tourist sites. Riding cable car was sitting in long line ..BUT the road scholar trip was GREAT... in shorts 80% of time. GREAT photo opts .. and a lot of scenery and local flair.. plus great people on tour

The Road Scholar California National Park Medley from Giant Sequoias to Coast Redwoods was excellent. One can see a lot and learn a lot while having a good time getting to know the leaders and meeting others who are interested in this educational "treat"

This was a vry busy, active program that gave a very complete and close up view of the National Parks in Northern California. I thought it was well done because we really were able to get into the parks and see them up close and personal. We even saw a real black bear and a real wild elk up close and personal but from a safe distance.

Everyday was a new adventure that I thoroughly enjoyed. We saw beautiful, awe inspiring National and State parks, took hikes and nature walks, visited museums and historical places of interest and much more. This educational tour was greatly enhanced by the inclusion of very knowledgable, interesting guides that specialized in the ecology and history of the areas we visited. We enjoyed good food, accommodations, weather, and congenial fellow travelers. Our group leaders, Darlene and Pete Haro are professional, knowledgable, humorous and caring. They, along with our conscientious , courteous bus driver, Tom Trauntvein, added to our comfort and enjoyment. I endorse this program enthusiastically!

This is a fantastic trip. The group leaders we had, Pete and Darlene, were great. They are well organized, very knowledgeable and a lot of fun. The bus driver we had, Tom, was a California surfer "dude" who was an excellent driver and helped everyone out. The sights and hikes on the trip were excellent. It had been a lifelong dream of mine to visit Yosemite and that alone was worth the trip. The accommodations were good to excellent. I highly recommend this trip.

The wide variety of sights to see made this trip very satisfying. The pace was rigorous, because we covered almost 1900 miles, but our group leaders and bus driver had the timing down well. We arrived on schedule and had very little wait time at any of the museums, national parks and other places of interest. Docents were usually waiting for us, and areas in restaurants were reserved for us. The group leaders were very sensitive to the needs of the group, and the group itself was very congenial. A few of our hotels did not have elevators, but fortunately, most of the group got rooms on lower floors. We had some outstanding meals, and some free time here and there to explore on our own, relax and process what we were seeing.

This is a wonderful program! We were blessed to have excellent group leaders, an outstanding bus driver, a very congenial group of participants AND pretty nice weather for most of the trip. The national parks are spectacular but some stops we knew nothing about beforehand were such nice surprises.
