I have 2 others thinking about this trip seriously.

Anna Beth from Springfield, MO Number of programs attended: 23
Date attended: 05/04/14 - 05/09/14
Excellent program totally focused on Lincoln and not diverted by the details of Civil War battles. We got to know and understand the MAN who faced such a crisis.

Gerrell from Austin, TX Number of programs attended: 15

This was an outstanding program in every respect. Although I thought that I knew a great deal about Abraham Lincoln, I learned much more during this program--particularly about his years of law practice before becoming more involved in national politics. The lectures were all extremely informative, even when there were differences of opinion among the presenters. All ot the field trips added greatly to the program, especially those outside of Springfield. Both the accompdagtions and meals were first rate, and I particularly enjoyed those at unique restaurants in small rural towns.

Cynthia from Girard, OH Number of programs attended: 9
Date attended: 05/04/14 - 05/09/14
Outstanding program. Wonderful speakers, right amount of activity, great hotel location and the meals were excellent. Our group leader Kathy and her assistant did a great job. I particularly enjoyed the various speakers, who were all great, but particularly John Squibb and John Lupton. Highly recommend this program for both the history buff and for anyone looking for a great experience.

The Life and Legacy of Abraham Lincoln immersed me in the time and the places that shaped Lincoln and that he, in turn, helped to shape. My admiration and respect for this great leader grew as I listened and saw and experienced the situations in which he lived and the wisdom and compassion he brought to them. The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum is outstanding, a true climax to the week.

The Road Scholar program "Legacy of Lincoln" present at Springfield, Illinois in September 2013 was well organized and very professionally and effectively lead. For we old folks, the distance between site was easy walking distance. Our leader was very conscious of the pace. The bus rides to points outside city were comfortable and the quaint restaurants added to the experience.

David from North Canton, OH Number of programs attended: 5

The presenters are experts in their subject matter and communicate that knowledge well to us. Dave

This was our first Road Scholar experience, and it exceeded our high expectations. Although we have spent a half-century on a university campus going to many programs, we welcomed the change of venues and the great mix of very interested, educated public citizens. the Wilsons

Roberta from Plano, TX Number of programs attended: 2
Date attended: 09/15/13 - 09/20/13
This was not only one of the best programs I have attended - It was the BEST.

Gerry from Rochester Hills, MI Number of programs attended: 17
Date attended: 05/05/13 - 05/10/13
Abraham Abraham… A man of stories, myths and truths Shaped by friends and family and Tempered by cronies, colleagues and competitors Abraham… Cautiously conservative Prone to charity and compromise But constant in his convictions Abraham… Despondent over Willie’s death And humbled by the gravity of a war Whose horrors brought him to his knees Abraham… A conservative closet Christian Or calculating campaign crafter? The judgment of generations claims him true and righteous Geri Attrick

John from Monroe Township, NJ Number of programs attended: 16
Date attended: 05/05/13 - 05/10/13
This was a well run, well thought through program, which exceeded expectations. The educational component was very strong, due largely to the experts comprising the team. The after dinner lectures made good use of potentially wasted time. I came into the program knowing a lot and left knowing a good deal more. More importantly, I left motivated to read more into the subject and purchased additional books the very next day. Team leader, Kathy, was excellent--genuinely interested in the well being of the participants and exceptionally well organized. We've been on some lackluster Road Scholar trips--all international --but this wasn't one of them!

Mary from Monroe Township, NJ Number of programs attended: 16
Date attended: 05/05/13 - 05/10/13
This program was a pleasure to participate in. It was extremely well-organized; field trips were interesting and informative; speakers added to my understanding; the Museum is absolutely AWESOME (the star of the program); and I very much enjoyed the other participants. This is a winner!

Mildred from Westlake, OH Number of programs attended: 20

If you want to attend an intellectually stimulating Road Scholar, go to Springfield, Illinois and learn about Lincoln who had greatness mixed with flaws. This program is perfect for anyone wanting deeper understanding of the man whose election led to the Confederacy. A truly great experience!
