Worth every penny...Beautiful surroundings, friendly people, generous and helpful staff. And, yes, the food and wine were delicious. Plan to return.

This program was interesting and fun. Susan is a fantastic leader; she is knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and well prepared. Our two primary instructors (Peter and Joe) were also awesome. I learned a lot about Portland's history and geology. The food was delicious too!

Great program for a terrific urban city.

This was a wonderful program from start to finish. Hotel great, food local and healthy and a big notch up from usual RS fare, leader Sally and her volunteer assistant Carolyn great.....knowledgable, helpful, funny and very capable leaders. We saw so much of this exciting city and came to appreciate the emphasis on art, sustainability and the great light rail and bus transportation system. Tour leaders Peter and Joe couldn't have been better. Hope my next trip is this good!

I loved this short program. I'm not sure the title "culture and cuisine" applied to all our activities, but I truly enjoyed everything we did. Sally is great and her volunteer assistant "Countess" Carolyn is a gem! If you don't know PDX, you should consider this program.

This trip moves at a fast pace. I wish we had more time in places like the art museum. Sometimes it seemed we were just checking places off a list. That said, it was a great trip. The Chinese and Japanese Gardens and falls were dazzling. The lecture on Mt. Hood on the luxury bus trip was enlightening. Food was delicious, but I doubt anyone needs two full course meals at lunch and dinner. You may gain a pound a day. The hotel had a huge selection at the buffet. For shopping I recommend the vegan chocolates at the second farmer's market trip and the extensive gift shop at the art museum. The Max fast rail trip from the airport for a dollar worked fine.

This program was marvelous. We saw many of Portland's iconic sights including a brewery tour, a farmers market and the Portland Art gallery, and enjoyed excellent food!

The Culture and Culinary Tour of Portland gave me a taste of the history and food this vital and growing city. Every morsel was delectable.

This was a well-organized program with lots of activities. Our group of 21 took walking/bus tours to Mt. Hood, Columbia Gorge, downtown and "the Pearl". We learned from experts about dessert options, sustainable farming, egg production and Portland's public art. We also visited 3 botanical gardens, Portland's Art Museum, one brewery and an "old church". Along the way we had first-rate dinners and an extensive daily breakfast spread. This was a good choice.

An outstanding overview of the Portland area and Mount Hood/Cascades. Our group leader, Roger, and tour guides, Peter and Joe, were among the best I have experienced in all my Road Scholar travels. There is a lot of walking involved, but options are given for those that might tire during the day.

This was an outstanding program. Moira, our leader, & her 'team' were terrific and made it an extremely interesting, well-run and fun trip. The program truly lived up to it's title of 'Culture & Cuisine'. Food was excellent with a nice variety of restaurants, and I thought our various tours were all fine choices. To top it off, the weather was fabulous and the group of participants were outstanding.

This program was very well run by Moria McMcurry. There was a nice mix of walks and lectures, museums and gardens. The food was fantastic. Several of the chefs came out of their kitchens to tell about the food they served. This was a nice touch. The field trips were well run and added to the Portland area experience. The hotel was nicely located for walking or using public transportaion.

I agree with the posts of my fellow participants on this program; it was excellent! Regarding the "not downtown" comment, I want to mention that Portland has an excellent network of bike and pedestrian paths, and walking from our hotel on the East side of the river to the downtown area on the west side was very easy. The program materials were very good in showing how to use the Max and Streetcars from the hotel. I would recommend to anyone who likes to walk to find the Portland Transit maps for bikes/pedestrian. These are very detailed PDF maps showing all the bike/pedestrian and pedestrian paths. You need 2 - one for the "NE" section (where the hotel is), and the other for the Downtown area. We could walk from the hotel across the bridges to the downtown area in about 20-25 minutes.

This program had everything it promised and then some! Moira was a well informed and enthusiastic leader which added to the enjoyment. The hotel was more remote from downtown than I would have liked but was clean and the staff friendly and helpful. I definitely would recommend the program!
