Road Scholar
Program #7864RJ
6 Days | 5 Nights
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Moderate
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

For our 10th Road Scholar program, we have mixed reviews. The hotel (Marriott) and meals were fabulous. Some of the attractions we visited could have been better organized. Our guides hadn't been to a number of them. However, we did see many wonderful historic places; especially beautiful was St. Joseph's Catholic Church. We booked this particular trip to attend the Cherry Blossom Festival and were dismayed that our program was over before it began.

This was a mother/daughter trip, our 5th but the first with Road Scholar. It was chock full of wonderful happenings from the speakers to the Opening Ceremony of the Festival Friday which was a gorgeous day. I thought the city to be beautiful with every building to be an architectural wonder. The leaders were awesome, the program exciting, the blossoms beautiful(there were many open). I was in search of Spring and found her. I too think the program could be renamed because the festival opened on Friday AM although some of the events we attended were prefestival doings.

This program was an excellent opportunity to learn about Macon GA. It is falsely advertized to be centered around the cherry blossom festival. The program actually ends before the opening ceremony and the parade is a full day after the close of the program. If you want to just tour Macon this is a wonderful trip with great people but don't do it for the festival which it does not include.
