Great program if you want to learn a lot about the Mississippi, the history and culture of the south and travel aboard a luxurious boat. Barbara and Bill, Glen Head, NY

Dorrie from Lake Forest, CA Number of programs attended: 6
Date attended: 11/27/15 - 12/06/15
This is a very complete trip that allows people with some degree of mobility limitations to have a great time while other physically active people are also having a great time. Neither faction impacts the other. It's a very interesting and fun trip.

Linda from Hampton, NH Number of programs attended: 1
Date attended: 12/10/15 - 12/20/15
This trip is truly a trip of a lifetime. The opportunity to cruise on the Mississippi River is an opportunity not to be missed. This trip will further your understanding of the river's history and importance to our country's development.

Betty from Dunedin, FL Number of programs attended: 1

Visiting plantations was major reason for taking this trip, we were not disappointed, the sights visited were interesting and the docents were outstanding, giving insight to life on the plantation for both white and black residents. We could understand the importance of Cotton in the area.

Gerald from Colorado Springs, CO Number of programs attended: 5
Date attended: 11/12/15 - 11/22/15
We thoroughly enjoyed this excursion. The first few days in New Orleans provided a nice balance of planned activities and free time. We especially enjoyed our city guide, Anne Leonard. The private Dixieland trio brought us good music, and the talk by the retired steamboat captain was informative. The American Queen portion of the program was relaxing - there is nothing better than an afternoon sitting in the porch swing, watching the Mississippi River roll by. Entertainment and food were just great. Our historian, Jerry M, prepared us for ports and challenged our thinking with very interesting lectures. Joyce Hanks and CP Cherb were excellent, available, on-site tour managers. Perhaps we'll sign up for this next year.

Carol from Carol Stream, IL Number of programs attended: 23
Date attended: 03/25/15 - 04/04/15
A full, engaging and interesting program. Highly recommended. Have done the RS/American Queen programs in the past and been most satisfied. A lot of information packed into a relatively brief time but so well presented with knowledgeable people that I was glad I had done preliminary reading from the suggested list. Many of the books were not available at my library (Illinois) but other books similar in subject matter were substituted.

Sally from Santa Rosa, CA Number of programs attended: 7
Date attended: 03/25/15 - 04/04/15
If you want to have a relaxed and fun time in the Deep South while learning more about this culture , this is the program for you. It is physically easy, but not slow. For history buffs, the Military Park at Vicksburg , and the docent who leads the trip, are a real treat.

Lois from Fort Myers, FL Number of programs attended: 11
Date attended: 03/11/15 - 03/21/15
If you value learning and trying new experiences in a secure environment, this is the way to go! I travel alone and felt comfortable in all situations. Leaders were highly skilled and the guides were enthusiastic about their areas of expertise. Truly a heart warming learning experience with many new friends.

Laura from Somerset, NJ Number of programs attended: 1

One of the best trips we have taken. The instructors and the shore excursion provided added so much value to what otherwise would have been a lovely trip but not half as good. This was our first, but will not be our last Road Scholar trip.

Dawn from San Diego, CA Number of programs attended: 10

A stately paddle wheeler floating slowly on the beautiful Mississippi River, plantations, gorgeous old homes, gourmet food, great New Orleans jazz, and alligators....what more could you want?
