A great group and helpful tour leader and volunteer. This was a smaller group, 24 rather than 40 and we got acquainted more quickly. A very congenial group. I think everyone enjoyed the tour as much as my cousin and I. Good information well presented and a great choice of places to visit, including a surprise bonus or two.

This tour gets you to all the major sites in San Antonio and beyond. Most meals are out in a variety of restaurants around town and beyond. Guides were great, you see a lot in a short amount of time. Hotel is across from the Alamo and a block from Riverwalk. Go early April before it's too hot.

I greatly enjoyed the program. Our leader (Christina) really knew her subject and did a fantastic job of handling minor hiccups when they occurred (such as providing last minute transportation when it was too cold to walk). It would have been nice to have a few more evening programs or suggestions about fun places to hang out. Round tables for the dinners in the Alamo room would be better than the long ones to encourage conversation. All in all, a great experience.

I enjoyed the program and meeting the people who were in it.The hotel and meals were great(avoiding long tables if at all possible would be desirable). The leader was fun/knowledgeable and is clearly experienced in herding cats(and seniors)! But the lack of evening programming or even suggestions for interesting things to do at night was disappointing. And more talks like that of Professor Hinojosa would have given a more stimulating picture of the historical/cultural aspects of the region.

Interesting and well presented program. Great hotel location (right next to the Alamo and River Walk). Engaging and well organized program leader.

This program covered a lot of historic San Antonio and spent a day in Fredericksburg. Christina and Hector did a wonderful job guiding us. The group was rather large (almost 40), making it difficult to get to know everyone. The Crockett Hotel was wonderful, friendly, and comfortable. This was a general program and covered its territory well. If a more in-depth educational focus is desired, perhaps the "Signature City San Antonio" would be an alternate choice.

What a wonderful week I had with the Road Scholars in San Antonio. Everything I wanted to see (for a long time) I did - and with such a great group. The accommodations were perfect, the destinations well-planned, and the amount of information gained beyond what I expected. San Antonio was a wonderful choice for my first RS trip. It has set a high standard for my future travels.

We had a wonderful week in and around San Antonio. This tour and our tour leader, Christina, provided a great combination of history, fun experiences, and fine food. The perfect Texas weather and that bluebonnet sky were awesome. The Crockett Hotel is in a great location so close to Riverwalk, the Alamo and RiverCenter mall.

My husband and I recently completed the Heart of Texas and Heart of the Hill Country program in San Antonio TX. The program was very interesting and filled with just the right combination of tours, lectures good food and free time exploration. The day spent at the LBJ ranch and in Fredericksburg mid week was a perfect break in the weeks activities. Our tour guide, Christina, made the experience more memorable by sharing her insider knowledge about various locations and her little "surprise" side trip added to the real Texas experience. We learned about the importance of the Spanish, German, Mexican and Anglo influence on what makes Texas such a unique and interesting state. The folks who attended from all over the US and a Canadian guest were so warm and friendly. It was a pleasure getting to know them. I would highly recommend this program. You won't be disappointed!

If you think you know Texas, you don't, but you will after participating this program. You will learn about major events that shaped the state, about the people who settled there, and about some of its favorite sons. San Antonio is a wonderful city, not to be missed.

There's a lot packed into this 5-night adventure: Texas history and culture, art, lectures, field trips, shopping, Riverwalk barge cruise, varied dining venues - even a siesta if you need it! And did I mention, "Remember the Alamo?" For a great overview of everything from this area's multicultural history and the Spanish missions, to cowboys and cattle drives, to the Germans who settled in the Hill Country and a peek at LBJ's Texas Whitehouse, this experience has something for everyone.

This was an excellent program. The leaders were wonderful, and we saw a great deal of the area. The participants were friendly as well. I would not hesitate to sign up for this activity even if I were alone as several people were. I would say the average age was about 70 for most of us.
