Excellent and enthusiastic team leader and field trip guides ensured we had a wonderful five days that resulted in 121 species being documented. This was only my second RS trip and, as an avid photographer, this excursion allowed numerous opportunities for 'capturing' excellent subjects. Accommodation on the shores of Lake Osprey was an added bonus - beautiful sunrises and sunsets and plenty of birdlife just a short walk away.

Our leaders were awesome! Our Group Leader Judy's attention to detail, anticipation of needs, and always cheerful can-do attitude kept everything moving smoothly. Our guides, John, Lynn, Stu, and Kathryn not only knew where to find the birds, but made sure everyone had a chance to see them. They gave many helpful tips on how to identify birds by their silhouettes and behaviors in addition to the usual markings and songs. The boat trip turned out to be on a drizzly, foggy afternoon. I wouldn't have left the hotel if I were on my own, yet it turned out to one of the highlights of the week. This was my fifth wonderful RS birding trip and the second to Sarasota. The hotel is right on Lake Osprey where birds abound -- so arrive a little early and take your binocs and camera for a walk out back.

This is a super birding program. Lake Osprey, located on the hotel grounds, offered the chance to bird on our own the day we arrived (before the program started) and during the week whenever we had free moments. Purple gallinule in full view, 50 ft. from the hotel's back door! Our bird guides were excellent, leading us around varied locations/habitats and helping us find many many birds.

Mary from Annandale, VA Number of programs attended: 6
Date attended: 03/23/14 - 03/28/14
This program deserved it's 5 stars and more. Despite the weather we had a great experience. The guides from Sarasota Audubon were awesome; friendly, helpful, and totally knowledgable. Judy kept everything running so smoothly. We even got an "extra"--a tour of Sarasota by Rick, our friendly van driver. would recommend this program to birders at any level.
