See our Small Group programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

This program exceeded my expectations. I wanted to learn more about art. I did, but more importantly, I was inspired by my fellow participants who showed a real zest for art. travel, and life! Made many new friends and learned a lot. Creature comforts were excellent. Loved the Hyatt at the Bellevue. It was charming and in a great location. Enjoyed Philadelphia and especially the Barnes and the vault at PAFA. Meals were outstanding including the buffet breakfast at the hotel. I wouldn't hesitate to do it all over again.

If you are an art enthusiast, you owe it to yourself to take the Road Scholar trip to the Barnes Museum in Philadelphia. The collection is unforgettable. The Rodin Museum, Academy of Fine Arts, and Philadelphia Museum of Art are all on the agenda. It's an art lovers paradise!

What an outstanding experience! It began with a lovely hotel and included extremely good dining experiences. Time for museum visits was generous and there was good preparation before hand. Having a sculptor discuss how he creates his works, and then having him bring us to a foundry to observe how casting is done, was an extraordinary experience! Don't miss!

Be sure to check in advance for the amount of time you can expect to spend at the Barnes Collection.

Bruce from Highland Park, NJ Number of programs attended: 2

Definitely worth it for the Barnes Collection and the Giannotti sculpture gallery. One could arrange the rest of the tour on one's own, but the transportation and location of hq hotel (Club Quarters) are ideal. Spending time with other "Scholars" enriches the experience. Food choices very good, and a bargain at the price. Recommended.

the lecture on Fairmount Park nothing to do with anything on our program. The Barnes was wqnderful

Dale from Royal Oak, MI Number of programs attended: 27

Dale and Anna Fournier, Royal Oak, MI Number of programs attended: 30+ Date attended: 11/14/12 - 11/18/12 As usual, this Roadscholar program was well planned and well executed. The selected art and music venues, as well as the restaurants chosen, were all excellent. The visit to the brass-casting foundry with sculptor John Giannati was a highlight typical of Roadscholar unique experiences.

Walker from Southern Pines, NC Number of programs attended: 1
Date attended: 11/14/12 - 11/18/12
I arrived a day before the start of the event to familiarize myself with the area. After checking in at the CQ, which was an exceptional hotel for us with a dining area and meeting place under one roof, I ventured to tour the Masonic Lodge, Cathedral Basilica of Peter and Paul, and the Franklin Institute. As always, my fellow participates were challenging and interesting. Judge, art collector and artist were among the group as well as world travelers with many tales and unique experiences. I look forward to my next Road Scholar program in New York City with a tour behind the curtains of the theater district. The Barnes Foundation, beautiful weather, and excellent hotel facilities were more than expected. A tour of Merion would have been an excellent addition to this program to see the Barnes before to compare to the Barnes after. The Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Rodin Museum were excellent additions. Walker from NC!

Audrey from Dallas, TX Number of programs attended: 6
Date attended: 11/14/12 - 11/18/12
Club Quarters in Philadelphia was a BIG surprise for me. I spent an additional night at the beginning of the program and based on the rates, I thought it would be a very spartan experience. But the hotel was very comfortable, had a good restaurant, was in a great location and the staff was exceptionally nice. CQ was an excellent Road Scholar choice.
