ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

If you are interested in experiencing the Camino de Santiago, but are not sure if you can or want to do consecutive days of fifteen mile walking, this is the trip for you. Day hikes through representative sections of The Road go through various landscapes, towns, terrains and provinces of Spain. You will get a chance to try food specialties of the regions, stay in hotels either on the Camino or close by and add to your reading knowledge of northern Spain and it's history with Carlota's and Nacho's commentary. While this is the "Camino Lite", you can always do the whole walk another time.

This program exceeded all my expectations. The food and accommodations were wonderful. Meals featured the local cuisine and the hotels were conveniently located for exploring the old towns on our own. The hiking was challenging but could also be adapted to individual needs. Even better than the views, the history, and the hiking were the people in our group. Our guides were knowledgeable and kind and our group had so many things in common that we found conversation flowed easily and support and encouragement came whenever we needed it. All in all a wonderful trip that will stay with me for many years.

Road Scholar hit a Grand Slam with "The Greatest Road in Europe: Camino de Santiago" program. Sometimes arduous, but always enjoyable and personally satisfying! Our wonderfully knowledgeable guides, Carlota and Marta, and the genuinely interesting and interested group members made this adventure a particularly satisfying and memorable one.

This was the trip of a lifetime for me - a personal & physical challenge. And at age 77, I am proud to have done it - with the encouragement and support of wonderful leaders and fellow pilgrims. All accommodations were superior - food and wine were endless. You should be prepared to exert yourself, and to experience all kinds of weather. Our one long day of hiking in continued rain brought challenges, yet we survived and will tell the tale often. The Camino is a very personal journey and there were many special moments to be treasured. We often spread out on the trail, giving us the illusion of being alone on the Camino with our reasons for doing so. And we met many "true pilgrims" with heavy backpacks, who did it all the "hard way" - and have our continued admiration. If this adventure is on your list and you are in reasonably good condition, go for it. You will be fulfilled for your lifetime.

This trip was terrific! I loved the combination of stretching myself physically and experiencing life on the Camino, intermingled with the spiritual and historical sites we visited. The part of Spain we explored was breathtakingly beautiful. As someone who doesn't slow down easily, walking the Camino gave me the opportunity to enjoy my journey - one step at a time....

The Camino de Santiago program is very good in terms of food, hotels, and cities, but is too limited int he walking component (the primary reason for the Camino).

This trip was fantastic! Nacho and Carlota and Luis made this the adventure of a lifetime. The food was fantastic and the representative sections of the Camino that we walked were wonderful.
