This was my first Road Scholar trip. My travel companions were a totally disparate group of lovely, fun and interesting people from all walks of life. I agree with Scott that the program was well conceived and delivered. But I want to emphasize how good the Moroccan experience was. That aspect was truly informed by expert guides and lecturers I would never have expected to run into.

Intelligently conceived and expertly delivered.

What a fantastic way to learn about and experience other cultures with open-minded travelers who are fun to meet. Road Scholar has given us so much pleasure in learning with thoughtful guides, great itineraries and careful choices of venues that are accurately rated in their program listings.

Great trip with educated, enthusiastic people who are citizens of the world and not afraid to explore unique cultures.

Mary from Savannah, GA I completely agree with Susan's assessment of our experience. We felt the Morocco experience could have been much better with a good "main" guide, and either a smaller group or better technology for hearing the local guides.

I'd like to give this program a positive recommendation, but I can't. It was definitely a mixed bag. Food, accommodations and transportation were perfectly OK, though seldom plush, and the guides in Spain were knowledgable and enjoyable. The guide in Morocco (not the person mentioned in the prior review) was quite bad - his 'lectures' were rambling, disjointed and uninformative. I don't think he really knew much about his country outside his own anecdotes, which we heard over and over. The 3 lectures at the Cultural Center and our orientation were quite good, but didn't completely compensate. I would also warn that the the focus of the trip was pretty narrow, primarily the religious history of the areas forming the contested Christian/Islamic frontier in the Middle Ages. It would help to have an intense interest in that topic. The group was quite large and the absence of whispers (to assist in hearing the guides) in Morocco meant that it was nearly impossible to hear the local day guides.
