a trip and study program worth doing. the ship was outstanding- excellent food and superb service. Sites were very interesting and guides knew their subjects. the small ship was just perfect for the places we visited. we'll have fond memories of having been on this odyssey. a must if you've never been!!

Janet from Davis, CA Numbers of program attended: 6 Date attended: 05/06/14 -05/24/14 Great Guides. Great Tour Mates. A stimulating program which made me want to learn more about the Mediterranean countries -- especially Turkey. My sister and I spent an afternoon cooking Turkish recipes. I went to the library and checked out novels by Turkish authors Orhan Pamuk and Elif Shafak.

This program was a perfect combination of a small ship cruise and a land tour. The ship provided a floating hotel as we moved from location to location so that we did not have to unpack & repack every day or two. As we are not ready to spend all day sitting in a deck chair, we enjoyed the daily walking excursions to the various attractions on land.

The ship was great, just the right size with good food. However, while we got a great overview of all the countries visited, there were too many crowds for me. This limited the ability to really take in the sites. Some stops, like 2 days in Palermo, were of questionable value. Overall a good sampler but no depth.

Anyone who has an interest in the foundations of Western culture should consider the Aegean Odyssey adventure. The trip brought my ancient history course of 60 years ago back to life! A truly wonderful adventure!

I would recommend this program for anyone wanting to learn ancient history. Well-planned and organized with excellent guides along the way. Our guide Vickie was outstanding!

A great trip. Roadscholar managed the trip with perfection.

I gained a great deal of knowledge about ancient times from seeing, from our guides at the different sites and most of all from Elani our group leader throughout the journey. She made the trip interesting and wonderful.

Jim's review is spot-on. We loved the trip, with so many fascinating antiquities and excellent guides. The ship was great: big enough to allow for a variety of people and amenities, and small enough that we never had to take the elevator! I filled in a lot of gaps in my knowledge of history, with the emersion in Greek, Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman cultures. And the weather was perfect. . . .

Overall, the experience was AWESOME... Eleni was flawless, - as a guide, and a person...
One comment...the ship's ( Aegean Odyssey) Internet was unreliable...I should have taken my Tablet ( & the bathroom HAS a 110V outlet, so I could have brought my charger...)
I'd HIGHLY recommend this trip, especially for someone who wants to sample Cruising...
