ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

This was my second trip with the Road Scholar organization - both have been the Great American Get Together type. I am the youngest of 5, so all of us met in Jackson Hole for the week together. Our group was made up of others with rich and varied levels of curiosity and capability. Benj was our guide for the week. We were so so fortunate to have his ability to see things that were not obvious to our group. His wit was appreciated. We had some difficult times, one episode involved our oldest brother, who subseqently returned to his home early. Being in this lovely setting was so relaxing/nurturing. We crossed the Continental Divide twice in one day, saw amazing colors in the hot springs, and enjoyed being in the expansive national parks prior to the federal employee furlough (lucky, lucky us) The coordination of the Teton Science school staff and Road Scholar staff was impecable. Goodness! I recommend this trip for the adventurous!

This program was an exceptional introduction into the Jackson Hole region. The week included a series of unforgetable outdoor activities in the spectacular setting of Grand Teton National Park. There were unique wildlife viewings, including sitings of bison, elk, moose, pronghorn, and wolves. We had presentations and fieldtrips that allowed us to experience the unique geology of this region, including a visit to Yellowstone National Park. Our group leader was very knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. The program also provided an insight into Jackson Hole's mix of nouveau riche, outdoors enthusiasts, and real cowboys. Since this program was a "Get Together," the group was large, but there was not much opportuntiy to get to know people outside the group you were assigned to for the week. Also, there was a noticeable lack of diversity in the program's participants.

My husband and I had a wonderful experience on the Great Get-Together in the Tetons. It was our first Road Scholar trip and we didn't know what to expect but it far exceeded expectations in all categories. As noted, the group leaderrs were very knowledgeable, enthusiastic, personable and lots of fun to be with for a week. Our group, as did others, became very bonded during our week of explorations and we enjoyed everyone's company throughout. I didn't realize ahead of time that we would find such a great group who were as curious and adventurous as we wanted to be. If you want to see and learn about the Tetons, Yellowstone Park, and the Jackson valley, don't miss this opportunity!

This program is fantastic for learning about the area you'll be exploring, seeing magnificent scenery, along with stimulating activities that are geared for most ability levels. You may even get to see some amazing wildlife such as bear, bison, moose, elk, pronghorn antelope, as well as various other animals. The guides and staff that run the program are young graduate adults that love sharing their vast knowledge about the area and its environment and are enthusiastic about helping you join in on the activities. I highly recommend signing up for this program because it is worth every penny of the cost and do not be afraid that you can't keep up because they will put you in a group that is of similar age and ability. Plus, if you don't feel you can do as much as others they will give you other options. Just do it, you'll be glad you did! Diane Flanigan from Chicago, IL.

An exceptional experience that exceeded my highest expectations. Breaking the 150 participants into permanent smaller groups with a designated leader created group cohesion and an excellent learning environment. From the first day to the last day the organizers made convenience of the participants a priority. It was smooth sailing from our arrival at the airport for the first day to departing for the airport on the last day. This was the first Road Scholar program attended by me and my wife; it will not be our last.

The Grand Teton trip was "Grand". After signing up for the program and accurately portraying my activity level I was put in a group with similar capabilities. I still had some anxiety but at each location the group was giving options. Each time I choose the more strenuous option and was capable of doing these. Any anxiety had been removed by field instructors and their support. The educational content was extremely interesting. Our field instructor was warm, kind, enthusiastic and very knowledgeable. The trip was a great experience and I accomplished more than I expected. In addition I also learned more than I expected.
