I completed my tour just recently on 9/28/2015...having joined a good friend who introduced me to Roadscholar. I had a wonderful time. Whether the walk was in The Cotswolds or Cornwall...the views were spectacular! The guides (Ian & Heather Newman...were excellent...both extremely nice, funny and knowledgable. The lodgings were excellent...the food incredible...transportation comfortable and impeccably on time. The bonus was meeting a group of very nice people from all over who were fun and interesting. I highly recommend Roadscholar and look forward to my next tour with them in the future.

Not surprisingly, for me the best parts of the program are the daily walks through the Cotswolds and Cornwall. They are all a bit more than 5 miles in length, and the final day is even longer, but the most spectacular of all. It's important to realize that there are lots of long hills to climb and fences to climb over, and there are many opportunities to fall down if you're not careful. But that said, they are all worth the effort. The scenery is wonderful in the Cotswolds and dramatic in Cornwall. Some people brought hiking poles and often appreciated having them. Many people did not bring poles, and got along quite well without them. Most people wore low cut hiking boots and they were fine for the whole trip. Both of the hotels that we stayed in were fine, and the food better than expected, particularly the desserts. We had a fun group of people in our tour group, ranging in age from high 50's to 83, and we had a lot to talk about with each other. The weather was excellent. It only rained a couple of times, even though the forecast we looked at before we arrived was much worse. The temperature was in the low 60's. A couple of people were comfortable in t-shirts, but most of us wore comfortable long sleeve shirts and long pants with layers to put on or take off as needed. Although it didn't rain much, when it did it rained hard. Try to pack clothing that will dry quickly if you can, and think about bringing some sort of "rain bonnet" that you can put over your backpack to keep it dry. Plan for rain, and be happy when it's not.

Had a terrific time. Enjoyed our leaders knowledge and support. Graham, Heather Ian were great guides. Padstow, Wadebridge and Camelford, Bodman-Nanstallion, Wells, Chipping Campden, Cheltenham, Stow on Wold, Cirencaster, Lechlade, Cheltenham, Oxford and Mickelton were highlights of some hikes. The food was very good too. My favorite evening meals were the local fresh fish offerings. The puddings were good desserts and consumed many calories and still lost weight upon our return.

This is a terrific trip with beautiful country scenes in the Cotswolds and breath taking views in Cornwall. The six or so miles of hiking each day are easy to manage and allow you to be enveloped in the beauty of the countryside.

This was a wonderful trip, but the hikes were just as described: challenging! It made me into a better hiker. The walks cover some outstanding scenic areas. Well worth the effort.

This is a wonderful opportunity to be active and learn more about a beautiful land and its history and people. Ian and his crew do a brilliant job of showing off beautiful landscapes and making guests feel right at home. My husband and I had terrific fun and look forward to exploring more of this intriguing nation.

This trip ranks first on my list of RS favorites. The hiking was challenging but invigorating. The scenery was beautiful and this group of people excellent fun. The group was a perfect size with 15 participants. Our guides ( Ian and Brian) were a good team. Make sure you have the right gear for this adventure if you plan on going.
