This program was the 12th of the year for my husband and me, our 5th in Abingdon, and as always, one of our favorites. Imagine going to a Road Scholar program and being hugged and greeted by name by about 30 fellow singers! And with our farewell hugs we all agreed to meet again next November! Newcomers are welcome and encouraged to return, too, and even though many of us have sung with each other for years, there are no cliques. This time the theme of our music was "South of the Border," and we sang a delightful medley of numbers, both sacred and secular, under the excellent direction of Andrew Walker. We were glad to give a concert which benefitted the Faith in Action Food Pantry, and we were delighted to receive a standing ovation from the over 80 attendees.

Choral singing is fun, especially when you have a knowledgeable, creative, and enjoyable director who like learning new things too! Great people, good music, totally dedicated staff and facilities. Your lungs will thank you for all the laughter and deep breathing!

We just went to this program for the fourth time, and already we're looking forward to attending next November. Unlike most Elderhostels, this one is like a family reunion to which newcomers are always warmly welcomed. Our director, Andrew Walker, is outstanding and a lot of fun, the pieces he chooses are a delight to sing, and we were happy to again give a concert to benefit the local food pantry. The price is very reasonable and it encompasses everything, including tickets to a performance at the renowned Barter Theater.
