The entire trip was fabulous. Our guide was Sevil and she made things fun and always interesting. She was happy to have input from the group about time, activities, etc. The Rixos Hotels are really wonderful;wish we could have had a little more time in them. My favorite place was Cappadocia and the cave hotel, but there were so many places that were fascinating. I was disappointed with the food on the gulet, but really didn't care because jumping in the beautiful water after a day on land was very special. Talking and laughing with the group while floating with noodles? What could be better. We had a great group and a great time.

Fantastic tour! It significantly exceeded our expectations. We have generally not been interested in group tours but decided to try the Road Scholar tour to visit Turkey. We enjoyed it immensely and learned so much from our exceptional Group Leader. As a bonus, the four days on the gulet in the Mediterranean were delightful.

The program was very worthwhile. The food was the best we have ever had on a Road Scholar tour, and we take the vegetarian option. I would have enjoyed the addition of a Jewish museum or synagogue. Amy Dayton, OH

Another rave review -- we loved this trip! Road Scholar has put together such an excellent way to see this fascinating country, which is not only a treasure trove of history, but also a vibrant, growing nation that, among other things, really knows how to receive tourists and feed them so well! We loved every bit of it and I echo all the appreciation of my fellow travelers. I was particularly surprised by how much I loved the boat travel. I am not a "boat person", but not only did I not need motion sickness pills, but I loved every moment on this beautiful vessel, staffed by its wonderful crew. I did not miss hiking shoes; for me my walking shoes and comfy sandals worked just fine; everyone's different. My husband and I were glad we spent a little time working with Pimsleur cd's from the library, learning just a smattering of Turkish before we got there; you don't need Turkish but it's nice to be able to say and understand a few things. This was our first RS trip, and based on this, we will definitely do more! We were thrilled.

Absolutely FANTASTIC trip I cannot recommend it enough. Our guide Timor was superb. Take the optional balloon ride in Cappadocia and extension in Istanbul. Boat shoes or barefoot on Gullet manadatory. Consider sea-sick pills as water can be choppy. We were solicited for tips be aware eg $25-$30 per person for driver and gullet crew. The Museum of Anatolan Civilization has been closed for 2 years we wish we had been informed. Tours of rug and pottery places very good but high pressure sales pitches especially the pottery place with very high prices. Still these are minor the tour was exceptional and it was a small group. You will enjoy it.

My first Road Scholar experience, and already planning the next! If you're considering Turkey, book with Road Scholar. Our guide had 22 years' experience. He and driver couldn't have been better, more helpful, etc. 6 stars out of 5. My personal suggestions: take serious hiking shoes. "uneven terrain" is an understatement. Take jacket w/hood for gulet and Bosphorus boats. Hair dryers were available everywhere. Don't take yours. Complimentary bottled water was available daily on bus, gulet, and in hotels. Don't need a water bottle. Will post more later.

An excellent program that covered a lot of ground! Especially valuable for first-time visitors to this historically rich and varied land. Our guides were exceptionally knowledgable and ever-ready to answer questions, even those relating to current issues. Hotel accommodations everywhere were top quality, and the Armada in Istanbul was exceptionally charming. The considerable stair climbing and tramping over rocky, uneven ground was (for me) well termed "moderately challenging." But this was balanced by our tranquil gulet excursion. Captain and crew there (including a fine cook) were accommodating and eager to please. In summary, this trip is a winner!

What an amazing adventure. This was a well-organized, well-run trip with an incredibly varied itinerary and a fantastic guide, Burcu Tokgoz. We toured and experienced several different parts of the country, and learned so much about ancient and modern Turkey, the cultures through the ages, as well as religion, architecture, geology, cuisine, etc. The hotels exceeded my expectations. As a vegetarian, I had plenty of delicious options. Our time aboard the gulet was such a treat, and a great respite from being on the road. A shout-out to my fellow travelers - we had a great group of adventurers and I am so glad to have met each of you.

This program was excellent in all aspects. The Gulet was a highlight. Food was very good and too plentiful. In spite of some protests in Istanbul our guide was very concerned foremost about our safety. At no time were we worried.
