While all of our learning adventures offer extraordinary value, our "Best Value" programs were rated by our participants themselves who thought their dollar went particularly far.
Love to learn in a small-group setting? This collection of programs has at most 10-24 participants.
See our Small Group programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

This program is full of fun and learning. The instructors are professional naturalists and professional photographers. They help anyone who has a question and everyone feels rewarded for their hard work. The evening critiques let us all know how each person sees nature differently. Treehaven is beautiful and forested. The daily trips to parks with waterfalls, changing fall colors, and mushrooms are well planned.

I liked the fact that participants were allowed to go out on their own to seek out different things to photograph instead of keeping everyone in a group and photographing the same thing. Everyone could work at their own pace.

General Wish: I try to sequence several photo classes back to back with perhaps some days to a week in between while I'm on the road. I could not find any other photo classes in the Midwest to take before or after the one at Treehaven nr. Tomahawk, WI. How about creating ones near Galena, IL, or at Shawnee N.F. in southern Illinois or back at Leelanau nr. Glen Arbor, MI?
When I went on a 2008 west, I was able to rather comfortably sequence classes. When I scheduled the same type of trip in 2010, it was extremely difficult: I had to drive from Yosemite to Yellowstone to Yosemite (even though I had to cancel the last one because the only mountain pass to it was snowed in). Perhaps there could be an extra step made in determining the dates of photo classes before publishing the final catalogue/website to allow for back-to-back classes with some travel time inbetween: hard but possible. Thanks
