This program was so far beyond my expectations I was unable to contain my comments to the 2000 character limit. The music, the art, the dance, the center for the elderly, for the special needs children, all wonderful. Our group, our leaders and the Cubans all unforgettable.

This program provides lots of interesting activities and opportunities to have positive interactions with people of Cuba. There's a wide variety of activities to engage in. The tour is at an easy, comfortable pace and is well organized. I'm am not previously a "tour person" and I am glad I went.

The Cuban People to People program surpassed my expectations. We met, saw, participated, reveled and discussed everything together. Our group was extremely congenial, and the leadership above and beyond.

Money exchange is as easier than going to the Bank in the US. Hotel National de Havana has a money exchange right in the main lobby. You can change your US Dollars to Cuban Pesos as you need. Cashiers are there from morning thru evening. 1 Cuban Peso will cost you approx. $1.15. or to put it the other way $1 is worth only 87cents Cuban. The monetary system is like in the US. You can break down your Peso into 20, 10, 5 and 1 bills paper money, also into coins of 50, 25, 10 and 5 cents. Then spend just like you are at home. Prices are generally lower than here for similar items.

The trip "Cuba Today; People and Society - Havana and the Countryside" was so much more than I expected. We met and talked to interesting and welcoming artists, farmers, dancers, and entrepreneurs in their own spaces and had the feeling of being "in" Cuba instead of "above" it because of these visits. Our Cuban leader and the Road Scholar group leader were both first class, very knowledgeable, and answered any and every question fully. We ate some exceptional meals in newer "paladors" and, even better, at a community arts center and at a small organic Finca. I want to go back.

This was a wonderful, educational and interesting trip with very informative and interesting guides. What was crammed into eight days was mind boggling. As I tried to digest the last venture, I was already being introduced to the next venture. it fulfilled a long time wish to visit Cuba and see if it was really as bad since the Revolution as our government told us it was. it certainly was not! It was amazing to me how enterprising and ambitious the Cuban people are. They are taking advantage of every opportunity afforded them to prosper. It was interesting to learn that the Castros are very low key and live like every other Cuban. There are no homeless in Cuba!

A delightful tour for people interested in learning about the Cuban people and the current living situation in Cuba.

Cuba is a breath-takingly beautiful island, so close to our shores, yet years away, due to political ideology, deprivation and the hardheartedness of those who lost property and left, (and who are determined to make the people of Cuba continue to suffer--even 50 years later). Yet their educational system has produced amazing visual art, dance, sports and music professionals. This program gives you an opportunity to see the old and new, and to understand the challenges and frustrations the people face. The hotels are fantastic, the food is delicious and--for visitors--abundant. It is fascinating to see how technology has crept in, as well as how effectively industry and consumer goods have been kept out.

It was a wonderful experience interacting with the warm and friendly Cuban people. I hope we left as good an impression on them as they did for us. It was enlightening and changed my conception of Cuba. Julie and Vivien were the best guides possible. I look forward to more Road Scholar travels.

"Cuba Today" was a rare opportunity to meet and interact with real Cubans. Road Scholar has made many unique connections with artists, dancers, and community projects. We also were able to select private restaurants on our own. Highly recommended

The people of Cuba are absolutely amazing! They seem to be very happy, hard working, and dedicated individuals. I recommend anyone to go, you will not regret it!

Cuba was exactly what I thought it would be. Cuba was nothing like what I thought it would be. My expectations about a country in a state of arrested decay were absolutely true. Havana was once a fine, wealthy city with mahogany doors and marble floors. Then imagine that great city lying almost untouched for 50 years. Every sidewalk, and almost every building, is crumbling. What wasn't what I thought it would be: Somehow, I thought the government, and the legend of Fidel, would be more oppressive. It wasn't. In fact, it was hardly there at all. Cubans appear to be ordinary people living life. Or perhaps, EXTRAORDINARY people. Despite the poverty, it's rich and warm. And fun. Just go.

The program was outstanding.Recommend it to people who are interested in seeing Cuba before it changes. The tour leaders were very helpful and always available and nothing was too much for them. The only drawback was that at least forty per cent of our group got sick which I guess is a risk when you go to these kinds of places. My wife and myself were very particular on what we ate and so remained healthy.
