Road Scholar has thousands of educational adventures to choose from. A good way to narrow down our list is to browse our collection of "Most Popular" programs.
See all of our Most Popular programs.
While all of our learning adventures offer extraordinary value, our "Best Value" programs were rated by our participants themselves who thought their dollar went particularly far.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

Mackinac Island is a magical place to visit! If you like lilacs, try to go during the lilac festival. My favorite parts of the program were the tea at the Grand Hotel; learning about and seeing/smelling all the lilacs, and listening to the horses clip clopping as they pull the carriages.

This is not about the website but I receive far, far too many ads and mailings from Road Scholar. I've now stopped the email ads and think I've stopped the paper ads. Twice a year is enough since most of us can look trips up online.

This was our first experience but it certainly will not be our last. Great program with diverse learning experiences that included a wonderful tea, walk in the woods. Not even fog and rain could diminish the enjoyment we found in the time we were there.

The Mackinac Island program was wonderful. Be prepared, however, for possible very cold weather in May and in the fall.

My sister and I had a wondeful time on this program. The island is beautiful, the food was great, the leader was superb and the other participants were so much fun. I've been on 26 Roadscholar programs and this was a favorite. I did not want to leave on Friday even though the weather had turned cold. Don't miss this one.

I simply can't thank each of you enough. I have taken I believe 7 Road Scholar programs and loved everyone. I have never worked with an organization who is so nice to work with and will bend to make it enjoyable and applicable for you. I should work for you I have given your email address to so many. Thank you. I drool when I get the catalog.

Even though Mackinac Island is indeed out-of-the-way, it is truly worth the effort... in fact, the visitor may be tempted to stay a bit longer just to get everything in. Road Scholar has collected all of the best into a great visit.

Mackinac Island is a beautiful, unique place (no cars!) The Road Scholar program gave me a chance to enjoy the beauty and at the same time, gave me a full understanding of the island, its culture, people, and history. I will treasure the memories of Mackinac Island for a long time!

Vivian from Fitchburg, WI Number of programs attended: 2
Date attended: 08/26/12 - 08/31/12
In many ways I was able to step back in time during my visit to Mackinac Island. I learned so much about the history, and life on the Island, more than I could have ever learned on my own. I was so sad to leave the Island and I hope to return some day, maybe even to stay at the Grand Hotel and have high tea again. I would most diffidently recommend this program to everyone. The horse and buggy taxis make it possible to really enjoy the Island.

Janis from Langhorne, PA Number of programs attended: 18
Date attended: 08/26/12 - 08/31/12
I have enjoyed over 15 programs and each one has been good - in the US and Europe. The latest to Mackinac Island was the most delightful - although there were excellent features in all.
