If you want to feel like a kid again, seeing the world through the eyes of your grandchild, learning new skills, being amazed at the worlds of music, nature and creation, go to "Grandma/Grandpa Camp"! And it all happens in the most beautiful setting of Great Camp Sagamore. We made some new friends and some wonderful memories.

My granddaughter had a great time with other grandchildren her age. She gained self-confidence during the trip and did things she had not done before. What a surprise for me to find grandparents there who were interested in the growth of their grandchildren and were interested in growing themselves. Both my granddaughter and I want to go back!

Great Camp Sagamore is a terrific bonding and educational experience for grandparents and children 6-8. There is also an older children's progam. This is a beautiful setting in the pristine Adirondack Mountains, on Lake Sagamore. There is structure in programs but also free time whem children can play creatively with the many other children and learn to be independent but free. There is structure and freedom with a perfect combination. My grandchildren all loved it. I took my two granddaughters for 4 summers and my 8 year old grandson for 2 summers. If you stay in Wigwam or in a cabin be sure to bring mousetraps.

The Intergenerational Program, “Grands Camp” at Sagamore in the Adirondacks was a wonderful opportunity for grandparents and grandkids, alike, to enjoy shared experiences in an unspoiled, natural environment that would be difficult to duplicate – impossible to do so anywhere I can think of. The natural beauty of the venue and its pervasive presence, the variety and largely hands-on character of the activities (canoeing, crafts, games, music, swimming, hiking, and more), the experience and expertise of the staff, and the closeness of the contact between grandparents and their children made for an outstanding experience that came too soon to an end and certainly will be one we will never forget.

This was a truly amazing experience - certainly life changing in regards to really getting to know your grandchild and finding out all those traits you didn't know they had!

Laura from Columbia, SC Number of programs attended: 1
Date attended: 07/13/14 - 07/18/14
Highly recommended program for families with grandparents able to spend a week learning, exploring, and creating with their grandchildren in the outdoor setting of the Adirondacks. Program fosters learning about natural environment, creativity, and encouragement of self-confidence for children's development.
