Easy
For people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
Moderate
These programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
Active
For people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately Challenging
For hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
Challenging
Get ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

This program was fantastic in every way. The first day of Kayaking was difficult, but I did it nd was glad. Beautiful scenery, excellent local knowledge and historical content. this was a 11 on a 10 point scale. The leaders should get the Medal of Honor!!!!

What Joanne and Tom (and everyone else) said. Everything about the program - the variety of equipment and routes, the good cheer and expertise of the guides and hosts, the music, the food, the music, the tie-in to Lewis & Clark, the hikes, the scenery, the music, even the weather (though they might have dialed back the wind a bit) was everything I could have asked for if I'd had that much imagination. I'm glad I went, and could picture returning very happily.

Brilliant in every aspect: excellent, knowledgeable guides, magnificent scenery. Kayaking skills taught and guiding based on deep knowledge of the area and tides. Flexible daily programing accommodated a variety of skill levels with ease. Evening presentations consisted of information specific to the area, well researched and thoughtfully presented. Musicians were fantastic with period music and costumes. Lodgings and food were just absolutely delightful. Five Star Program.

Everything about this program in August 2011 was absolutely fantastic. From the great hosts and food at the Lucky Mudd to the expert and congenial Andrew and Mark to/from/on the water, to the land and water that contained all of us, to the varied bunch of fellow travelers. Such beauty, expertise and talent in one small community was a real treat to a city gal like me.
Fondly,
Barbara Sacks, Hayward, CA
P.S. I'm coming back in 2012 with another friend!

It is hard to describe this most amazing place and a trip just brimming over with wonderful experiences, all stuffed into just five days. Everything from kayaking to Lewis and Clark history to logging, sheep farming, and salmon running to music of the valley to music of the Lewis and Clark era, all wrapped up with meeting wonderful people and eating outstanding home cooked meals! It's unbelievable what a treasure Skamakawa, WA is, found only by driving six miles past the middle of nowhere. As a single traveler, I highly recommmend it - I felt very welcomed!

My favorite program so far! The kayaking was just right. The food was spectacular. The music and fun totally unexpected and superbly enjoyable. We stayed at Lucky Mud which was comfortable, relaxed, welcoming, and a happy place to be. (Don't be scared off by the long, winding and hilly road to get there. What comes at the end is great.) This is the fifth program where we did some kayaking, and we were fitted with our equipment and instructed in techniques with more thoroughness than at any other. I would recommend this program to anyone who enjoys the outdoors, activity, food, and (surprisingly) music.

Absolutely fabulous. Both the kayaking and the evening programs were superb. The B&Bs we staying in were lovely and owners very gracious/friendly. Trip leaders' depth of knowledge about the area, its history and culture, and especially the arts is beyond compare.

This is most fabulous program I've ever been on. It was a true joy to participate! The personnel are superior; the educational value outstanding and the conviviality exceptional.
One suggestion-My husband and I were inexperienced kayakers. We totally enjoyed the program, although at times it was quite a challenge to control the kayak.
Suggestions:On the very first day, take the group up the local Skamakawa River to get the "feel" of the kayak. Basics are much easier to learn on a gentle river than on the wide and rapidly flowing Columbia. Just spend a 1/2 an hour on this.
Thanks for considering this suggestion.
