Attending this program fulfilled a long-standing dream of mine as a reader of literature of the period, viewing "The Age of Innocence," and reading "The House the Rockefellers Built." Enjoying the Fall Colors was a bonus!

I just got back from the Hudson River Valley tour of mansions. I cannot say enough about how wonderful this trip is! From the location of where you will be staying (The Warwick Center which looks like the setting for WHITE CHRISTMAS with Bing Crosby and Rosemary Clooney!!) to the mansions themselves, you will be taken care of royally during your entire stay. The meals are stupdendous and the organization of the trip is first rate. The staff cannot be better. You will be so lucky if you sign up and have this experience of a life time!

Mansions of the Hudson River Valley is like walking into a bygone era. Through slides, anecdotes and lively discussion and lecture one is well prepared to tour each mansion and actively participate in the tour guides programs. It is different than just walking through a marvelous structure in that you are versed ahead of time by the program to really know what it must have been like to live then. The beauty of the countryside is just the cherry on top of the cake!

The visits to the Historic Mansions of the Hudson River Valley were awesome. It was so interesting to see how the very wealthy lived in the 19th and early 20th centuries. The visit to the Rockefeller mansion was the highlight of the mansion program and the visit to the CIA for luncheon was really great.

The Inn has not been updated for many years and is rundown. The food is not healthy. A location should be chosen closer to the visited sites to decrease the length of bus rides. No religious or political views should be expressed by the instructors.

Gilian from Sheffield, MA Number of programs attended: 3 I felt the program was not up to Road Scholar standards. The place we stayed was so far from the houses that my main impression of the trip was the long bus rides, up to 4 hours a day over the same route. The bus driver, Kevin, was fantastic but Tom, our "guide" talked very little, and then mostly about demolished houses, restaurants where you needed reservations, where he lived and worked. Not helpful. Plus, Tom offered a prayer at the beginning and end of each trip. I (and many others) found this offensive. The historic mansions were wonderful and the docents at each house excellent.

Exactly what it should be, 6 Hudson River mansions in detail. Good evening entertainment, quiet restfull location. Considering the locations of the homes busng was as efficient as possible. Weather fogged out some of the scenic routing enjoyed making the different Hudson crossings. Having a well experienced guide was a plus. If your into Historic Hudson Valley twas well worth it.

Too many hours on a bus, accommodations could be a lot closer to attractions. Warwick Center is 3rd rate at best. No housekeeping for rooms. National Park and docents of private foundations at all attractions were excellent. Bus driver was great. John was a good presenter, too much of Tom's photos.

George from Williamsburg, VA Number of programs attended: 5

Too long a bus trip to each mansion. Better locations for the program. Include a program at the Culinary Institute, botanical gardens, West Point, etc.
