See our Small Group programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

You may think you know a lot about Philadelphia and the Founding Fathers but attending this program will certainly expand your knowledge. The docents added so many interesting facts and little known things about this time in our country's history. The city architecture alone in a reason for a visit and the historical is great makes it doubly worthwhile.

A very interesting and enjoyable tour of Philadelphia. One learns about Philadelphia itself as well as the historic sites.

Dennis from Durham, NC Number of programs attended: 3

Historic Philadelphia turns out to be very steeped in well-preserved sites/venues that are critical to the founding of our country, and is also aesthetically beautiful. This 5-day program offers a comprehensive and yet efficient way to sample this rich diversity. Being able to walk to and about most sites of interest served to enhance our "reliving" of our history. Also, having an experienced primary program leader who is a native Philadelphian (Fred Vincent) was invaluable. Dennis & Ann Stacey Durham NC October 2013

This was a great experience. I would recommend it to anyone who has an interest in our founding fathers and the development of our government. The program leaders were terrific and the accommodations were comfortable with superb meals. As usual, the participants were warm, friendly, and welcoming. Thank you Marianne and Sara.

Ann from Portage, MI Number of programs attended: 13
Date attended: 11/11/12 - 11/16/12
I have been on 14 Road Scholar programs - this one was certainly one of the most interesting. We were learning every minute and we could easliy see history everywhere - but also what life is like now in Philadelphia. Our accommodations were superb and the local restaurant in our hotel - one of the best.

It was a very nice introduction to Philadelphia. I have many ideas for a return visit to this walkable city on my own.
