i remember the advice from a close friend in college - don't take a course, take a professor. I'm passing it on - take Don King. I can't wait for his new book to come out. It'll be about C.S.Lewis's wife, Joy Davidman.

This was a wonderful, exciting, and rewarding program. It is the type of activity with which I want to fill my retirement. It is not possible to say enough good things about the presenter, Dr. Don King, the content, and the facility.

Don King as an awesome C.S. Lewis scholar. He presents Lewis as a real person, not just a stuffy Oxford don. Although I'd read several of Lewis' works (but not in depth), King makes the person and the writings very real. Montreat is lovely in the summer ( a pleasant respite from the heat of the the coastal Carolinas. Lodging and meals were excellent.)

If you have either a major or minor interest in C. S. Lewis this is the program to attend. Dr. Don King, of Montreat College, does an excellent job of presenting Lewis' life and writings in a non opinionated manner, leaving the listener to draw his or her own conclusions. Dr. King is a true Lewis Scholar. The course setting, in the NC Mountains, is both beautiful as well as inspirational.

Don't miss this opportunity to enter the world of C. S. Lewis and realize for the first time - or anew - what a contribution he made to all ages and stages and our spirituality.

This Road Scholar program is the second one I have attended. Dr. King made the program both scholarly and understandable. He paced the program in accordance to his audience. His knowledge and passion for C.S. Lewis came through in every presentation. I thought the first Road Scholar attended was the greatest. However, this one topped it.

My first experience with Road Scholar was delightful as a solo participant. The program was informative and many of the participants were very knowledgeable about C.S. Lewis already and contributed to the program via questions or information. I enjoyed the evenings playing Rummikube with others. I'm encouraged to do another program.

This was an exceedingly rich program. It exceeded my expectations because of the presenter, Don King, and because of the interesting and friendly participants. Don King's scholarly yet humble demeanor, his passion for C.S.Lewis, and his interest and knowledge of C.S.Lewis (including overnight stays at Lewis's home), all made for an enriching week. Enjoying C.S.Lewis with curious, interesting, and friendly participants was another added surprise that made the program one that i will recommend highly.

If you love an inspiring program, expansion of the mind, interaction with interesting people, a room with a view, including a lovely lake and a mountain or two, lovely trees and flowering shrubs, comfortable quarters, and fantastic food, you will love Montreat Assembly in Black Mountain, NC.

A great program with a first-rate presenter. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and particularly enjoyed meeting with folks from around the country

This program was one of the best we've attended (our 12th). For anyone who wants to know and understand a great author while enhancing their Christian experience, take this!

It seemed the class members that I talked to were in agreement that this class was exceptional. Dr. King was a contributing factor in our enjoyment. Charles

I enjoyed the program on CS Lewis very much. Don King, our instructor, was outstanding. He has been interested in research on Lewis and his life and books for many years. He showed great enthusiasm. All of the participants seemed to like the class very much. Montreat is a beautiful setting.

Mary from Richmond, KY Number of programs attended: 8

The program about C.S. Lewis was excellent. Don King is very knowledgeable about Lewis, and I enjoyed his lectures, readings, and the videos he'd selected. Also, although the Assembly Inn at Montreat is being renovated presently (and it is needed!) the grounds couldn't have been more beautiful. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our five days there.

Ed from Hillsborough, NC Number of programs attended: 0

Our primary reason for signing up for this course was my long standing interest in and love for C. S. Lewis. I have been to many courses, conferences, lectures and other public events (e.g., Screwtape on Stage - which we both highly recommend) I was ready for a review of Lewis' life and works. WAS I EVER IN FOR A MOST PLEASANT SURPRISE. Don King's enthusiasm for and love of (like a kid in a candy store) was evident from his first words. His presentation exceeded excellence - it was contagious. The students at Montreat Collage are indeed both fortunate and blessed to learn from this man. His passion for Lewis is real. His knowledge of his works, and in particular his life, start with being "top notch professional" and then, believe or not, get better. As stated above, I have been to many C. S. Lewis events - this one was "head and shoulders" above the rest. I thought I knew Lewis well. I now have a new standard. Don King makes Screwtape to be the liar he is. Screwtape said "I do not expect old heads on young shoulders." Don King exceeds being a good teacher or professor - he is a superb educator.

Dr. Don King, the instructor for the C. S. Lewis program, makes Lewis and his family and friends come alive through his enthusiastic and engaging teaching style.
