Prior to this trip I had traveled independently in 36 countries. In addition, I had experienced two organized tours, one to Russia and one to India, not with Road Scholar. I found this particular trip wonderful! It was an excellent combination of two capitals, two national parks, very nice hotels, and the experience and atmosphere of staying at an eco camp, and viewing majestic scenery on board a small ship. The pace and size of the group were both perfect, and our leader, Horatio, good humored, knowledgeable, organized, and unflappable. I came home and immediately began to look for another Road Scholar trip! I leave in a few weeks for the next of what I am sure will be many more!

For me, this program has it all! Touring and learning about the beautiful cities of Buenos Aires and Santiago, a luxurious shipboard experience coupled with trips in the zodiac boats to see glaciers and penguins, a rustic eco experience in Torres del Paine with hiking and wildlife, and just the right balance of lectures and free time. I particularly enjoyed the museums, the tango show, seeing the glaciers and penguins up close, and the winery tour. The accommodations were 5-star in my opinion. The food was so well-presented and delicious that I took pictures of it. The group leader was excellent and there was just the right balance of educational experiences and free time. Grab your waterproof gear (for the zodiacs) and go for it!

Finis Terrae was one of the most interesting, beautiful and exhilarating travel experiences I've ever had. I am a Road Scholar veteran, and as usual, everything about the trip was well organized and our comfort carefully considered. Visiting Chile and Argentina, especially the Southern portions, is like traveling to a different culture. It is not "Americanized" in the way so many other areas are. I highly recommend this trip for anyone who wants to experience geology and nature at it's finest.

This was a wonderful trip, and Horacio Cavilli the best guide I have had on any trip. We did so much on this trip that I needed my photos to recall some of the events at the beginning of the trip. I had never been on any cruise, and was apprehensive about the 4 nights aboard the expedition vessel. However, with only 110 passengers and a busy daily schedule with morning and afternoon Zodiac excursions most days, and the opportunity to hike on shore, this was far from the Big Cruise experience. I even found I slept better with the gentle rocking of the boat--except for that rough night as we approached Cape Horn, and the plastic water bottles flew across the room. The cruise and the Eco Camp really made this an adventure. The wildlife seen on land and at sea was wonderful, and we had a much appreciated "birding" guide join us during our Eco Camp stay. Glacier Alley, albatrosses, the list of greats is too long to include. This was a "bucket list" trip for me, and exceeded my expectations.

Incredible program - stunning in every way! This was our first Road Scholar trip and we can't wait to plan another one. This was an easy and excellent introduction to parts of Latin-America we had longed to experience for many years!

Experiencing two magnificent national parks at "the end of the earth" was surprising and amazing. We got up close to glaciers on a beautiful ship cruise and stayed in an "Eco camp" nestled under magnificent mountains. I could not have imagined how it would be. Totally memorable!

The trips put on by Road Scholar are without any doubt the very best I have encountered. The lecturors, accommodations, busses and meals are always representative of the area of attendance and of the highest quality. I have NEVER been taken for a shopping tour during one of their trips. Thank you Road Scholar.

The trip to Patagonia was wonderful! The hotels were nice, the ship was a pleasure, the food was delicious! WE had one of the best leaders yet in Horatio. I would recommend this to anyone interested in seeing a beautiful part of the world.

There was such amazing variety in this fabulous program. We went from the city of Buenos Aires to tiny Ushuaia, the southernmost city in the world. The views in Tierra del Fuego were gorgeous. The four nights on the MV Australis traveling through icy waters were just amazing. The ship was fabulous and trips on the Zodiak rafts were wonderful. It was magical to move through fields of ice to see blue glaciers. When we returned to the rafts after walks, we were greeted with hot chocolate, whiskey, and glacier ice. Then it was on to the Ecocamp staying in log-fire-heated domes under starry skies and with views of the Torres del Paine. The trip was ended in sunny, warm Santiago where we visited a beautiful winery. What a marvelous trip! Our tour leader, Horacio Cavilli, did a fabulous job making the trip a cohesive whole.

This is a great program - interesting, educational and fun. Our group leader, Horacio Cavilli, was excellent and the local guides and lecturers were very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. They all truly seemed to enjoy imparting their expertise to us. The program was so varied in the activities and venues that it made for a very interesting, active and fun two weeks. I would definitely recommend this program especially to those who enjoy being outside and active.
